Affirmative Action has had some very positive influences on our society. AA, as some wrongly believe, is not quotas. Quotas are actually illegal in this country. AA is simply an attempt to balance inequalities by trying to get businesses, schools, etc.. to focus on this inequality. This is accomplishes by sometimes offering benefits for hiring, etc.. ppl from historically oppressed sections of our society. IE, females, African Americans, the handicap, etc...

reverse discrimination. If two people apply for school or a job, they should get it based on their skill level or grades and not because of their race. How else can we ever be considered as equals if we don't do it the right way?

it's racism, pure and simple. They may give it a fancy name but to be honest this sort of policy is exactly why certain people are going to assume that minorities are dumb or stupid or whatever. You should be hired on your merits, not because you're a woman or black or whatever. And I was reading some of the earlier posts.

100% racist. I'm considered a "minority" and I am proud to say that I have never taken advantage of this kind of crap. I got into my school and job of choice by hard work alone.

It's reverse discrimination at it's best. People complain about discrimination all the time. All this did was make it worse. People should get their job on merit and qulifications. Not sex or color.

necessary evil, but companies handle it pretty poorly.
They hire these people for their tax credits, and blame keeping them on affirmative action.

It has it's pro's and con's.

What if companies had a choice? Minorities need to work, too. If they don't...? Well, I'm glad I have a car alarm and a loaded pistol.
