Yep, I just heard it on the news. Seems the Liberal Party have acknowledged that AWA's and Workplace Reform were the big vote losers of the Election and apparently members are being encouraged to go with Labor on this one and distance themselves from this Election loser.

My, my, how the tables turn when you get a thrashing!

It's interesting isn't it to see the Lib supporters start spitting the venom and making demands? Sit back and suffer as we did for a few years my dears. hopefully some of the Howardites will be elected to the top jobs in OPPOSITION meaning that Labor will be in power that much longer

Ok Ok now it's my turn!

Kevin Rudd is now the Prime Minister of Australia (Just in case you didn't know and wondered why so many Coalition members have stepped down)

Yet we still have all these Liberal fanatics trying to suggest that they were right and 52-53% of the Australian public were wrong and they will pay for it.

Some points of fact are that interest rates would and will increase regardless of who was or is in charge. Wall to wall Labor can only be a good thing due to the fact that now State governments will have a fair share of the GST and communication lines between both levels will be much clearer and effective. If the Coalition had been re-elected then the Health System, infrastructure, the water crisis and indigineous affairs would have been even more of a mess because we know from the report published prior to the election, that the Liberal government were inclined to only spend money in Coalition held electorates and there were even a percentage that weren't approved.

So back to the question at hand. The Coalition had this brilliant idea called "Work Choices" and forced it down the throats of hard working Ausssies. It was a major theme in their campaign, that if Labor were in power the changes would be scrapped and this would mean the death of small business and unemployment would soar. As an outsider watching the propaganda put forward by the great Liberal Party, you would think that this policy/idea was a cornerstone in the achievements of this government.

However the people saw the "forest for all the trees" and decided they're going to move forward and remove some of the rotten ones. This has then exposed some of the little saplings that want to be as big and strong as the ones that were. Yet they realised, to avoid the rot they need to graft themselves to the new more vibrant ones. Needless to say, they never had any idea what else to do anyway.

It's not about distancing themselves, it's about having never believed in it in the first place.

So what I want to know is, other than the "war of terror" as it was called by GW himself, Children overboard and the mess that is both legal and illegal immigration and of course Work Choices what has the Government of the last 11.5 years done better, than Labor could have, to manage or grow our economy? Is it not true that the economy basically runs itself and that if anything it could have been grown better and many more australians could have benifited from it than have? If memory serves me correctly all the reforms and hard choices that were responsible for correcting the mistakes of previous Liberal governments and set us on this run, were passed and made by Labor just before the Liberals were brought back into power.

To all the Liberal doomsayers I say good luck for the future because you'll need it. The way your party is falling apart speaks volumes for what you stood for in goverment.

Sorry about the lame Tree analogy.

Well the liberal party have really put their tales between their legs and conceded defeat ha vent they.
Perhaps they now know that being in a party that has reign power for 11yrs isn't all what its set out to be, they became to arrogant and thought they could do anything they wanted.

Now the people of Australia have spoken out, perhaps they don't feel that they can rule the earth.

But then I would really like to hear this from the horses mouth and see their white flag.

My impression is that a lot of lib pollies knew it was an election loser but were forced to support it. On the other hand, it may have been a smart move (but painful) to finally be rid of Howard/Costello (who stuck like you know whatsits) and let more moderate voices be heard.....

They knew that for months, but upon Howard's insistence and apparent downright arrogance..they kept their mouths shut and ran down the obvious dead-end that Howard led them..."if we win this election,I will stand down in the second half and Costello will replace me"..This was Idiocy of the first degree! Now Costello doesn't want it..Abbott..yeah well the bravado won't work now pal..Maybe they'll get Bronwyn Bishop to lacquer her hair like Sir Maggie and take over..even our incumbent Nat.Party got the flick..out here in the boonies...Actually,I would like to see Workplace Agreements for all Politicians,CEOs and other corporate schills...Leave the workers that actually accomplish something alone..Yet alone Health,Education and Environmental Issues..You reap what you sow..even after 11 hair-pulling years...But I guess we shall see...soon enough.
