It's certainly got to be better than last year's offerings.

I'm actually looking forward to 'Roméo et Juliette' and Verdi's 'Macbeth' (which I've never seen performed) and Puccini's rarely performed (at least in this country) 'Manon Lescaut.' But I'm not a big Wagner or Donizetti fan. I'll watch the HD performaces but I'm expecting to be overwhelmed by either.

So, any opera lovers out there who want to provide your two cents worth to the upcoming season.

I live in LA myself and can only watch the HD performances they show in several local theaters. You might want to see if they are shown 'live' the same way in your area.

Placido Domingo heard in THIS life doing ANY opera is a treat in itself.

Renée Fleming has a beautiful voice .
Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème,Verdi's Aida, The First Emperor(There is an absolutely heart wrenching beautiful song sung by Charlotte Church on a C.D. that I have) and another of Puccini's beautiful opera's, Madama Butterfly are my favourites that are listed for the new and up coming season.

Among the new additions will be several operas directed by acclaimed theatre veterans, including two by Tony Award winners: Benjamin Britten's Peter Grimes helmed by John Doyle, who recently won acclaim for his Sweeney Todd revival on Broadway, and Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor directed by Mary Zimmerman.

I wish that I could take in the new production of Puccini's Madam Butterfly, by the director, Minghella, at the English National Opera and decide for myself if I would like it or not.
It sounds as if would be a remarkable experience and promises to be interesting at the very least.

Either City I would happily attend to hear the above listed Opera's.

Romeo et Juliette is great, and I also like Macbeth. Manon Lescaut will be exciting to see, just because it is so rare to see it, and since it's Puccini nothing more need be said!

I hate Wagner, but because I'm a coloratura soprano, I have to love Donizetti!

Wish I could go, but I live too far away. I did go to NYC for dinner at DB's Bistro Moderne (OMG!!) and saw Rigoletto a few years ago and had a great experience.

Romeo et Juliette is actually one of my faves (seen it twice once with Freni and Alfredo Kraus probably one of the best productions I've ever seen) Macbeth can be incredible (seen it with Cappucilli, Barstow, Plishka all at their peak quite riveting) the Donizetti isn't that the Lucia with Natalie Dessay? then it is worth a viewing besides being an incredible singer she is a convincing actress you will love this performance ... even if Wagner is not your cup of tea I would still go see it while Wagner is still the house specialty
