I have a 2002 Audi A4 with the 3.0. I want to change the spark plugs in it. Is there an easy way to take off the clips on the coils and is there an easy way to get the coil out? Also what kind of plugs do I want to use in there? plantnum? erritium?

There is an easy way to take out the coils. The question is: can I explain it in words? Hopefully. For the purpose of simplicity I will only explain on bank (or side) of the engine, keep in mind you will have to repeat on the other side to get the other three plugs. There are two small screws on the bottom of the coil wire casing, they are torx screws and you will have to remove them first. After those screws are removed, you need to get the coil wires off the coils. Since all the wiring is kept together by the plastic casing you need to remove them in unison. There are a few ways to take the coil connectors off. I usually take a pick with a 90 degree head and slip it underneath the connector from the coil side to trip the catch. You can also push the connector towards the coil and push the black tab towards the coil, then while keeping pressure on the tab, pull the connector away from the coil, it should come free. You should start with the coil nearest to the front of the car and once it is started, move to the next. You will not be able to pull the connectors off until they are all loose.
At a dealer there is a tool to pull the coils, but a screwdriver works just as well. Take a large standard (flat-head) screwdriver, put the tip under the front of the coil and pry up. Make sure you don't pry on the connector side of the coil or you might damage it.
As far as what type of coils to use, I would use NGK or Bosch. Why? Because I am a believer in using manufacture recommended parts. Audi uses Bosch and NGK plugs depending on year and application. They are both good plugs. Don't buy them from the dealer though, they will cost six times more because they come in an Audi box. Audi uses Platinum plugs. Don't waste money on any plugs with multiple side electrodes, ie. "splitfire", Bosch Platinum +3, etc. They don't work any better than regular platinum plugs.

When you put it back together, just reverse the process. Make sure all the coils are pushed all the way back down.

I hope this helps. If you need me to clear something up, just update your question.

I had a Quatro that I sold with 120,000 miles and it had NGK standard plugs with 80,000 miles on them. Right now I have 3 cars. The Olds has cheep plugs and 150,000 miles on them.
The Sable has 175,000 on 4 out of 6 OEM plugs. and I have an Escort with 135,000 on the all 4 oem plugs
any questions about 99 cent plugs verses 5$ plugs?
