I go to a British School in America, and I speak English. All of my friends who go to other American schools speak American because there's a HUGE difference between English and American-"English".

I speak both. I went to a English school in Scotland. English is my second language. I immigrated to the U.S. in 1985 and speak American too... There is a huge difference.

Well i live in the U.S. and I'm an American, and I speak English... There isn't a language called "American".. it's all English. What your referring to is "slang" or an "accent". ...Meaning different people from different area's, may pronounce words differently, like putting a "drawl" at the end of the word, etc....It's also called "slang" (which are words made up, and used for fun, or to refer to something, but not in the dictionary)
Here in America, we have quite a few different English accents throughout our country. Some people can't understand "Cajun", for example or "Southern" accents. It is all still English though, and is all still the same words used, and taught in schools, just a different "twang" put on the words... So we think you guys sound different, and you think we sound different. But we both feel we are the only ones speaking correctly!
