Hi, I have a question regarding garter belts and stockings and wearing them with skirts.?

My g/f recently bought a new work skirt. Its form fitting but she cannot wear her garter belt with it due to you being able to see the straps through the skirt or tell they are there I mean , due to it being form fitting of course.
So my question is. Is there a garter belt I can buy that wont have an imprint of the straps while wearing the skirt?
I was thinking of this , along with the entire set but wasn't sure if it would be any different. Please let me know

P.S. I am not some perverted freak. This is a gift I have in mind for her.

She doesn't like to wear pantyhose actually , much prefers garter belt and stockings. Which I don't mind lol

That kind will always show. The straps are twice as long as they should be, too far on the side where they cannot be hidden, and it is so flimsy it will always slide down. As a girl who wears a garter belt and stocking everyday tailored business suits, I can tell you this is a bedroom garter belt, not a practical one.

Practical garter belts are much larger at the waist to keep from slipping, have a rear fastener similar to a good bra of wide elastic and at least two rows of hooks for adjustment. The garter straps should be shorter to keep the stockings high and taught, and should have adjusters buckles on them,They also should be close together in the front so they can be fastened a little inside the thigh where they will not be noticeable.

I wear stockings every day to work, because I hate pantyhose, but I use garter belts that have small short straps that don't show because the garters are so high and I hook them in inconspicuous areas.

Go to stockingstore.com and look under satin garter belts. The Invisible V is the one that is the best, although I often use the short strap satin belt. Tell her th hook the front garters inside her thighs a little, so they don't show on the top of her thighs, and the rear ones should be fine. I always wear six straps ans sometimes hook the regular 6 strap side garter on the side seam, the front as I mentioned and the rear one is usually no problem. She may have to take a longer stocking, I always a size up with a short strap.

I even wear them in the winter with jeans, and the garters are so high they hide under the pockets and can't be seen.

I also usually wear lined skirts if they are tight, or wear a half slip if they are not.

I'm a vintage fashion fan and wear gartered stockings everyday. The garter belt you linked to is really just for show and doesn't do a great job of holding up a pair of nylons all day, everyday. Especially if they're vintage or vintage style all-nylon stockings with no spandex mixed in like the kind of stockings I wear. As for garter straps showing through skirts, I sometimes have this problem too as I wear a lot of 1940's style pencil skirts. Wearing a slip under your skirt does help a lot, but the best way to solve this problem is to wear a girdle instead of a garter belt. Girdles tend to have shorter straps and therefore don't stretch all the way down your thighs where they're more likely to show through. Just wear them with longer stockings. And yes, wearing a girdle is very old fashioned, but also very feminine and sexy, and nothing does a better job of comfortably holding up a pair of nylons.

I also dislike pantyhose, and wear stockings and a garterbelt to work. I am in and out to courts and legal offices all day, and tend to wearsuits with streight skirts or taylored pants. I usually wear the kind with a nlon liner,so they help hide the garters, In Summer with thinner linen suits I wear a half slip which does the same thing. I wear my stockings very high, and fasten the garters where they are least likely to show on whatever I am wearing. Near pockets, seams or the inner thigh and never have a problem

I wear stockings and a garter belt all the time and I have most of my skirts fitted. I just wear my stockings very long, and shorten the garter straps. I also position them where they don't show, like inside my thigh a little. and under a seam or pocket or detail on the skirt. Well you have a several options Pantyhose are less sexy, but get ride of the problem, but also many stockings have elastic at the top and don't need to be worn with garter belts at all.

Go to a lingerie shop and talk with the girls there, they will probably be delighted to give you some advice.

The ladies who have answered this have given excellent ideas and options. They help to keep alive the art of wearing stockings. My thought is why worry so much about the clasps and straps showing? You see bra straps showing through tops all the time and no one thinks twice about it. When stockings were common place, you would see straps and clasps showing, it was a given.
