Exter. Fert.- The uniting of gametes (sperm + egg) outside of the female. This type of fertilization is typical in fish and amphibians where it occurs in water.
Inter. Fert.- Typical in reptiles, birds and mammals. Gametes unite inside of the female. In humans, for example, it normally occurs in the oviduct (fallopian tube).
Amniotic egg- A fluid portion of an egg that encloses the embryo and protects it from mechanical shock.
Lat. line- An organ in fish that enables it to detect vibrations in the nearby water. It extends from the gills to the tail and can be seen in some fish as a "line".

External Fertilization is when the egg and sperm join outside the body of either parent. ex. A female fish lays eggs and then the male releases his sperm on them.

Internal Fertilization is when the egg and sperm join inside the female.

Amniotic egg- http://encarta.msn.com/media_461517464_761563418_-1_1/Amniotic_Egg.html

The lateral line is an organ in fish that allows them to feel vibrations in the water.
