when in fact theres no reality in these shows.
i like them myself and im not really sure why

I personally don't like them because I also don't like gossip and watching people make out, etc. I feel like I am intruding into their life. Reality shows are a bunch of nonsense and a waste of time, in my opinion, but that doesn't make it so. Each person picks their own way to kill time; different strokes for different folks. My life is so busy with other things that I barely have time to turn on TV, but I read a book a day. Go figure!! So reality shows are just your way of watching what your neighbor is doing, out of curiosity,I would think.
Good that you know it isn't reality. Marketing is marketing, and the ratings are what counts. I hope they do put boundaries on what is shown though, as I think we are going too far on wanting the latest dirt all of the time. Sometimes, we just need to take care of our brains in a more healthy way and feed them positive things. Just my thoughts. Have a great day.

Because it makes us think that other people are a lot worse than us. I don't watch 'reality' shows anymore, mainly because they are so fake. They put unreal people in unreal situations.
Take Survivor for example. If I was stranded on a deserted island, I would end up being the @sshole/Hank Hill type that gets hated, but at the same time, I would also be the one that makes sure everybody survives.

You are generalizing when you say there is "no reality" in these shows... there are some shows more "reality" based than others (more like GAME shows). Those that do depict REALITY are the ones I prefer... i.e.
COPS
America's Most Wanted
Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares
Nanny 911 & Supernanny
Judge Judy
and others like these. They depict real life and/or real people in their normal pursuits... and as Ann Landers would always say about the letters she receives... "You CAN'T make these things up!"
Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

I'll never understand the mentality of the people who like these shows, or who read those stupid tabloid papers that line the check out at the grocery store. If you really like reality shows, but don't know why, I suggest you just stop watching them. You're obviously aware that they have no redeeming value, or you'd know why you were watching. Read something. Watch something with a plot. Do it quick, before you're brain turns to mush.

Do you remember the part in "Private Parts" Howard Stern's movie when they were talking about cancelling his show, they said that a certain percentage of conservatives listen just to know what he'll say next (or something to that effect). That is the same with reality TV, you just want to know what will happen next.

I refuse to watch so called reality TV, when I want reality I go out into the world and talk to real people and do real things.
TV is a way to escape reality, isn't it?

I very seldom watch them because I think it is pathetic that people will humiliate themselves for money. I have watched biggest loser now and then because there people are trying to improve themselves but other than that, I don't even watch American Idol or Dancing but prefer something more entertaining to me.

I'm not. I don't watch TV very much for the simple reason that most of it is mindless reality television.

I really like them too..
hard to find anything on tv nowadays that isn't reality tv.
i think because its not predictable like other shows
