Purrrrr....Purrrrr..Oh Purrrr....lol...
Actually, Cat's got my tongue on this one....it is a very interesting analogy....but then I think the whole Garden of Eden thing was just a huge analogy itself....metaphorically teaching us its lesson....and those who have less of a sense of creativity in prose and poetry take it literally and create a lot of religious argumentation that almost obliterates the original lesson....and I'm guessing that you may get some of that argumentation with this question.....however....God created us and I think he would find it delightful that we can think outside the box....and would admire and celebrate our abstract thoughts for the creativity they reflect...

I don't think "self-awareness" is the better term to choose from. It wasn't necessarily self-awareness...but more of a judgement sense to start dividing things upon their characterisitcs. Judgement is kind of like self-awareness...but do you get what I mean?

And no, they weren't pets, in an interpretation of them being cared for and dependant on something else. However, they were pets in the term that they were perfectly content with what was at hand, at the moment.

Adam and Eve, as symbols of our Terran mandala, were spirit-sparks developing in Loving conditions, much as fertilized ovum does.

"Self-realization" is One Mind Soul-individuation, and occurs even for the "one-cell fertilized ovum" stage of lifestream development.

At any given time, loving instruction, and even warnings were amply given. The point of lifestreams "sophomorically" taking up extra -Oneness free will and experimentation on their own in lower frequencies (what we term our Universe) is that every action has a consequence, a lesson vis a vis relativity +/-, and that Christ, Truth, shows the Way up and out of such entanglement and dense desire.

Endowed with divine Love and Oneness with the Godhead, developing spirit-sparks, lifestreams, are destined to become ever-increasing permanent "atoms of Being in the Body of God," possessing unlimited potential in the Law of the One, God-Harmony.

kind regards,

j.

They were sentient human beings with no knowledge whatsoever other than the knowledge that God gave them. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God's command, that is when the freedom of choice was pronounced. They could've said no....but in the end...they did it.

I can imagine that A + E, before achieving their self-awareness, were smelt their pee, licked their sex and pissed of to start with… beside, in this hell/world, humans can smell as well as dog with their inner-senses through their self-awareness.

To stedyedy: I still call my kids my pets and they are grown. When we go shopping I whistle for them to find them.
I think they may have been God's pets, then like any pets, they learn from experience what is good or not and from their master's lessons.
They even learn from not so good sources, just like pets and people.

Angels although a higher lifeform than are own are hardly considered pets.... A dog or a cat are pets , they run on instinct only ... We; like Angels, run on free will and could never have been pets before or after we put our " leaves " on ...........

We all have had a time in our lives when we did not have self-awareness. Do you call small children who have not yet developed their reason, pets?

They were babes, eager and ready to absorb new knowledge and experiences. The serpent was placed there for a reason. Of course, this could be metaphorically speaking.

No, I believe they were protected children...in innocence and nurtured. It was like the first child.....you try so hard and yet they must make their mistakes and learn on their on. The father knew though he had other expectations....such are the rolls in life.

Maybe.
I would love to be God's pet....He wouldn't forget to feed me, and if I were a very well behaved pet, I might get to sleep at the foot of His bed.
