no. Some people become adults at 16, while others don't until 30, and beyond.

Yes as a bare minimum. When I was young it was 21 and for some things that is too old. My brother got married at 18 and had a baby at 20. He finished high school at 17 and joined the Navy at 18. When he was 20 he had been an adult two years and couldn't buy a car even with cash without his parents consent because he was still a child. His wife was 17 when he married her and a high school junior. A year later living thousands of miles from her dad she needed him to sign a excuse when she missed a day of high school. She graduated on time and they were pretty mature at 17-18. They will have their 40th anniversary next spring and the kids are 37-35.

No! Now that I'm older, i realize how young 18 really is! It's too young to go off to war, it's too young to buy cigarettes, and it should be the age when kids can drive, instead of 16 like in some states. For those who really are mature enough at 18, good for you! But alot of kids just aren't ready yet. I think the age should be 21. If I sound crazy, sorry, but I worry about my own kids when I look at myself at 18. I thought I knew way more than I did! I've learned so much since then. And I think you can mature alot in those 3 extra years.

In the United States 18 is the LEAGAL AGE but you can be 15 and tried in a court of law as an adult. 14-17 for the legal age of consent to have sex depending on the state that you live in!

As you become mature on age 18 apparently adulthood starts but it's not for everybody like this...sometimes people become more childish when is 18.

There are 2 views:
The legal view
And the technical view
When you turn 18, you are LEGALLY an adult. You are not a minor ANYMORE, and are responsible for everything that you do. Mommy and Daddy cant bail you out anymore. It all falls on your shoulders..
There is also a more detailed view: Young adult
Some people consider 18 and 19 as a "young adult" and 21 as an "adult" since you can then legally drink.

Well, considering the majority of states say once you are 18 years old you are no longer a minor then you are considered an adult then; however, in Alabama (where I'm from) you must be 19 years old to be considered an adult and not a minor.
As for the maturing and acting like an adult, it depends on the individual.

personally i think its 21...but some would argue that adulthood starts with puberty but i think that mentally your not a adult till your 21...alot of 18 year olds would disagree but its amazing how much you mature in 3 years at that age..... im 20 myself.

no. 18 is just the time everyone thinks it starts, but i think that 18 is too early to decide what you're going to do for the next 40+ years. but that's not an excuse to try to find yourself so you can find out, and absolutely no excuse to mooch off parents(my brother...yeah, kinda doing that).
on the other hand, i think the drinking age should be lowered to 18, at least. if we can get drafted, we better ******* well be able to drink.

Look at it this way. If you become pregnant at age 16, two people are responsible for that happening. Those two people then become the adult influence in that child's life. SO it depends on the situation and the individual..
