If so, what was your experience? Do you believe in such things? I haven't done it but it piques my interest if nothing else. ok I lie, I want to try it. and hearing my sis' experience. My sister isn't typically the kind of person to believe in the paranormal and things like that, but she and some friends used one once in a friend's really old house and said it worked, gave me a really detailed description and about the different ghosts that chatted with them, there was an elderly black guy, a little girl like about 10 and a teenager boy. The girl of the group who was knowledgeable about the subject told that whoever wanted to participate had to be open to it and not just goofing off, so only about half used it. She said that using one, a person had to be careful because it could open a "door" for bad spirits to get at you. There were like 7 people in the house hanging out, and even the ones not using the board and who didn't believe it were weirded out by the experience.

Denie : Just wondering, what if someone were to do it not in their own house, would the house haunting still happen, could spirits follow a person or whatever...or just suddenly start bothering you because you "opened" it up?

Paranormal is a subjective topic. Some people believe it and some don't.
I have used a similar board ten years ago. Though I felt it work that that point of time, today when I look back I feel that my mind was playing tricks on me.
Spirits are not scientifically proved entities... but then, science today does not know everything, does it?
Some things are best NOT played around with - you never know...

I have, though it has been a long time, now. I began with a friend when I was 15. It started out taking a VERY long time for anything to happen. We waited and waited, asking the same, and varying questions over and over again. Eventually the planchette began moving slowly. With practice and experience it started moving faster. We went through the whole, "Are you moving it? I'm not moving it," thing. I wasn't certain for along time that my friend wasn't moving it, especially when I could take my hand off the planchette and it would continue moving with her hand only. (Must be her, right?) But then I began KNOWING the answers before the board even BEGAN spelling it out (With my hand not on it.). That was just the beginning of my experiences.
I can say for sure that if you decide to do it, don't believe everything they say. Certainly don't believe who they say they are. If they say they're someone famous, it's a lie. If they say they're someone you know who died, it's 99.9% a lie. I don't know if the being that communicate are all evil like many people claim, or if some of them are good. I made good friends through the board. I know I sound crazy, but after hearing the answers while using the board, I began to hear them all the time. We could laugh and talk together. I didn't spiral into a horrible depression like people often claim ALWAYS happens. They didn't all try to hurt me. Some genuinely helped me. Some did try to hurt me and some succeeded.
If you would like to talk more about it you can send me an email. I hope I helped you some.

Parker Brothers did not invent the Ouija Board. It had already been around for awhile when it was bought by Parker Brothers in 1966 and turned into a commercial success as a board game. Its beginnings lie in the distant past when an earlier version (a tripod device) was used in the ancient ways of Babylon and Greece to contact departed spirits. The tripod became the pointer now used with the Board, which is printed with the alphabet, the numbers 1-9, a 0 (zero), and the words 'Goodbye', 'Yes', and 'No'. There are other boards like this with different names, but with the same history and purpose. The modern version of this game was developed by a man named Planchette, a spiritualist (someone who contacts the dead as part of their religion). The Board was further transformed around the turn of the century under the direction and ownership of two men, Elijah J. Bond and William Fuld. Fuld’s name can be seen on the Ouija Board today. The name Ouija is a combination of the French and German words for 'yes': Oui and Ja. According to Bond and Fuld, the Board suggested its own name. The primary purpose of the board is and always has been to contact disembodied spirits. Contacting the dead is called necromancy, and contacting spirits is spiritism, both strongly condemned by God (Deut. 18:9-12; Lev. 19:31, 20:6; I Sam 28, II Kings 21:6; Is. 8:19, 19:3-4). The Board’s translated name, 'yes, yes', is an ingenious and subtle way to invite spirit contact. Dead people cannot hang around after death; you cannot communicate with a dead person. The practices and techniques of contacting the dead and contacting spirits are used widely in the occult. Although the pointer is often moved intentionally or subconsciously by the players, you are putting yourself in a vulnerable position when using the Board. By 'playing' this 'game', you are showing an interest in spirit contact. If contact is made, it is demons (evil spirits, fallen angels), not the dead, who are responding. If Satan can disguise himself as "an angel of light" (2 Cor. 11:14), then it is not improbable that fallen angels can disguise themselves as the dead. The Ouija Board is not harmless just because it is marketed as a game. Satan, the master of deception and seduction, is good at twisting the truth into lies (Gen. 3:1-6; Jn. 8:44). Satan likes disguises and his lies are often disguised as games. The next time you are tempted to play the Ouija Board as a game, look beyond its disguise and see it for what it really is. Think about this: Just what or who are you trying to contact? God tells us to seek Him instead of the dead (Is. 8:19), and Christ "lives forever to plead with God" on behalf of those who believe Him (Heb. 7:25b). Who wants the Ouija Board when you can know the One Who has "complete authority in heaven and on earth!" (Matt.28:18). If you are wondering about Christ, think on His words in John 5:23b-24, "He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father , who sent him. I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

i have used a ouija board and yes i do believ in such things.my hands are steady,so i doubt i was moving it when it happened.i have had mine for over a year and nothing paranormal has happened in my house.then agasin i do ask angels for assisstance while using it so that could be a reason.the boards can open a portal which is why whenever i use it, i use it on a friday so on saturday i have enough time to do a cleansing of my house.if you are ever going to use one you should take precautionary steps.for instance, dont be alone when you use it otherwise the spirit would be drawing all of its energy from you, which can harm you.look it up online for further info.sorry i dont have a link for you

Skeptic and magician James Randi, in his book An Encyclopedia of Claims, Frauds, and Hoaxes of the Occult and Supernatural, points out that when blindfolded, Ouija board operators are unable to produce intelligible messages. Magicians Penn & Teller performed a similar demonstration in an episode of their cable television show ********! in which the operators moved the planchette into what they thought was the positions of "yes" and "no" without knowing that the board was turned upside-down, which caused them to move the planchette into blank spaces on the board.

This board was supposed to be a game....?this game comes from a well known company...but nobody knows who or what this board and game was created really for and what deal was made to get it to do what it says.Do you really know who's answering the questions that it asks?THIS IS NOT A TOY!EVEN THE EXPERTS CANT EXPLAIN IT OR ITS ORIGINS!leave it alone....before you open gates or dimensions you cant stop!If you have used it dont destroy it because every board is scarily special. no board no fixing it.Be a smart person a walk away before something happens! Is that clear enough for your curiosity?Be safe and take heed in this message...blessed be

Don't use them. It's not COULD open a door it's WILL open a door. If you don't take my advice and something gets attached to the board, burying it and encasing it in salt works best. Once again if you use one you have to close the door or you leave the house/house hold open to whatever clambers out. VERY BAD THING, and kinda complicated. If something attaches to you, well that's even worse. Clear crystals, and salt is what I recommend, until you find some help.

Once when I was little, in the closet of my God Mother's house with my older brother and God sister, the planchette took off before we even asked a question. We all got spooked and ran out of there.
