My dad is a US Citizen, but I was born and raise in Haiti. Three years ago I came to America, I was 17, so I got a US pasport I travel with it all the time. Inside this pasport I see for Nationality UNITED STATES OF AMERICA; some people say that I can vote and some say I can't.
So let me know; however, I don't need no answer that'll make me frustrated, like you want to be American or boat people stuff like that.

I would say that you are a Citizen based upon your father's citizenship. The Passport evidences it. So when you turn 18 you should be able to vote. I would contact your local voter's registration and apply for the card. They would be able to confirm your eligibility.

To receive a U.S. passport you must either be a U.S. citizen, or a non-citizen national. If you are a U.S. citizen, then YES you can vote. IF you are a non-citizen national, then NO you cannot.

If your father was in the military or on government business in Haiti and that's why you were born and raised there, then you are a U.S. citizen.

To be absolutely sure, you must talk to your parents of the U.S. State Department. This is their website: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

You were born overseas to legal United States Citizens. You are considered a United States Citizen.

You can vote if you can prove the following:

You are a legal citizen of the United States of America.

You are 18 years of age or older

You have lived in United States for the past 14 years.

You are not a convicted Felon

You must be legally registered in the county of the State in which you live.

You must go down to The Election Commissions Office of your County and register in person.

You must have proof you live where you say you live.

You must be legally registered by the deadline before the election date set by your state. This is usually 30-90 days before the Election Day in your County, City, State.

If you meet the above criteria, I suggest you go down to your Election Commissions Office tomorrow and register to vote.

If your father is a United States Citizen, but you were born and raised in Haiti, then on your 18th birthday you should have chosen whether you wanted Haitian, America, or dual citizenship. If you selected American or dual, are 18, and have not committed any felonies, then yes, you can vote (but you have to register first).

In short, yes you can.

The US Passport is proof of identication and of US Citizenship. If the government issued you a passport, you are a citizen. As a child of a US citizen, you were eligible for citizenship, which I believe has to be claimed by the time you are 18, which it appears you did.

I believe the children of US citizens, even if born outside the country, are also considered US citizens. But you will want to check your official status with the courthouse to be certain.
