Burning the flag of a country is a dramatic way of getting attention for people who have no convincing thing to say. It is idiotic, counterproductive, and reprehensible. And yet, it should not be banned. Every time we restrict the protections of the First Amendment or, indeed, any of the Bill of Rights or the Constitution, we diminish the very basis of what we like to call the American way of life. We love to brag about our free country, and to maintain it free, we have to guarantee freedom to all the citizens, even to morons.

It shouldn't be banned I think that this is mainly used as an expression of how people are feeling about the state of a country. And usually burning a flag means that the person is unhappy.People shouldn't be so offended by it. People think if anyone does this, that person may be a terrorist out to get them. People are too scared of things, and think that somone who doesn't look like them are against them (I think this can apply to people of every race). People need to stop being scared of problem, but trying to fix the problem. If people fix the problem people might not be burning flags and people wouldn't be so scared of each other.

I believe that it's something very offensive to be be burning a flag in the country of the flag, and I think the whole "freedom-of-speech" reason for allowing it may have some flaws in it - because freedom of speech isn't absolute, and also buy burning a flag it can create a fire hazard - so that may be a way to outlaw it.
I think it should be allowed though to burn another country's flag - as it isn't so offensive to the people in the currect country.

I don't have a problem with burning a flag. it's a piece of cloth. I've burnt a few american flags when I was a few years younger. I mean, I could buy underwear with the stars and stripes on them and have them ride up my ******** all day, is there a difference? I guess I'm just not a true "patriot". It seems like its all about the almighty dollar, especially after 9/11. When you could buy anything in the ole' red, white and blue. I was sick of all these assholes driving around with a flag sticker prominetly displayed on there bumper saying, "hey look at me, I support America." No Sh*t, who in this country didn't support the country after 9/11. I didn't need to spend money a piece of cloth that was probably mass produced in China.
I seem to have gone a little off topic.

I think it's very disrespectful, and the fact that people do, show just how little respect is left in the world. As for banned, I'm not willing to risk freedom of expression, but I'd really rather people found a better way to express their frustrations than disrespecting the flag and all it stands for.

While I think that it is disrespectful, I don't think it should be banned. A flag is nothing more than a symbol of the country and what the country stands for, and burning the flag is a way to get across your feelings about it. While it is an extreme way to go about things, it is not harming anyone as long as the fire is kept under control so it should not be prohibited.

I don't think anybody burning the flag of any country should be banned by any country. I've always grown up with it as a freedom of expression, and it doesn't offend me. It's a symbolic act of frustration and anger.
One might ask whether burning the flag of one state should be banned. I don't think so either.

I think it's disrespectful to burn your own or another countries flag. I'm an American and many young men have died to protect our flag.. and I wouldn't want anyone disrespecting those people by burning it, nor would I burn any other countries flag. I would hope that others would show me the same curtisee (sp?)
To me it's just a good jester not to, and it is respectful.

I am sure that many many people have died over the ages protecting their nation and flag. I am not sure of who or why so may have done so but I am sure that all of us in the United States of America and possible other places would not be happy at the burning of our flag for the main reason that many brave souls died to defend it for what it stands for and for many personal reasons. If you want freedom of speech talk don't burn things or Flags for that matter!

For me it a sign of disrespect that strikes at the core of patriotism. I would not burn my or any one elses flag, no matter how I might disagree with policies and practices.
I think there should be something inside each human being that stops them from such an atrocious act. But as we Americans believe in freedom so much, then it should not be banned. But heavily frowned upon.
