Yes,if it's made right. A white batter fruitcake is much better than the darker batter traditional ones made with the premixed,chopped candied fruits. Homemade is better with real butter,eggs,sugar and other fresh ingredients.Pre-soaking the fruits in bourbon gives it good taste:)

I live in the Fruitcake capitol of the world. Says so on our water tower, Claxton, GA. I hate it. It makes a good door stop though.

I liked my ex mom in laws when she still made it.
I'm thinking it was the rum,which somehow fixes an otherwise dubious doorstop looking cake.

I like my mom's b/c she makes it with whole wheat and real fruit and the good stuff, but I never liked it till she made it.

I like one I had that was made with pineapple. Otherwise, I hate it - especially those little green things. What are those?!! And, unless you've seen it being made, you have NO IDEA how old it is. :OP
