The tadpole is at least 3 inches long. I originally found him at my pet store when I received a batch of feeder goldfish. Not sure on what all it can eat.

Although it would probably prefer cooler temperatures, it can survive with your tropicals. They will eat algae wafers made for bottom-feeding fish (and so will the fish). You can also give him pieces of boiled lettuce, and slices of cucumbers and zucchini (you fish may eat these too!).

About the only thing that would be different in a tropical tank than a cooler one is that the tadpole will metamorphose faster, then will need his own tank with some land area and a good screen lid so he doesn't jump out. Expect him to change within about 4-6 months. Then get a supply of small crickets (at first), then move him to larger crickets, worms (bait), mealworms, small feeder fish, and as an adult, frozen pinkie mice for treats.

I have four of these, one just became a frog about two months ago. They can remain in their tadpole state for up to two years. We've had ours two years now. I've always fed them "tadpole bites" I bought at a reptile/pet store. I'm sure most pet stores carry it. They prefer room temperature water around 70-75. I'm not sure how well they would do in a tropical water temp but I imagine they would be fine. Once he has his legs, but still has a tail he needs to be able to come out of the water, like on a rock or such. At that point his tail will start to absorb pretty quickly. When it's gone he will start eating crickets. They have a hearty appetite, Ours even ate a smaller tadpole we had. Basically anything that might fit in his mouth he'll probably attempt to eat. The tadpoles do need a air stone to survive if you choose to house it separately. They also enjoy being in the water and out. Ours does spend a decent amount of time on land. GOOD LUCK!!!

What temperature is YOUR room? The tank would be something on the factor of that. actual now mine is 67F, so my tank warmers are working and retaining the fish heat, around a impressive friendly 77F. without heater they could be in subject. Now some intense fish keepers with distinctive tanks do actual only warmth the whole room, insulate your fish room and save it at 75F, and don't desire warmers in the tanks. is sensible in case you have 20 tanks. yet in a classic room, the temp isn't stable and is in many situations too chilly - so get a tank heater.
