Trucks on the Coquihala highway are charged a higher toll to use the road than cars are. Is this a price discrimination? Briefly explain.

No because the cost of road wear is higher for trucks. True prices discrimination would be to charge new cars a higher toll than old cars because on average their drivers would be richer so would pay a higher price to save the same amount of time.

Unfortunately, unless this venue receives state or federal funds, it can legally refuse to hold your wedding. There is no right to be a patron at an establishment unless that establishment receives state or federal funds. (Once they do this, then you can can claim state action and sue under the 14th Amendment.) This has actually been happening a lot in CA since the decision making it permissible for homosexuals to marry. Many vendors, including florists/bakers/etc. are not comfortable with the idea of same-sex marriages and are refusing the opportunity to service these events. I think, in time, they will come around. I would say to not even waste your money on a venue that doesn't seem to want you. It's their loss! Congratulations. Very exciting times!

Trucks are heavier than cars and thus cause more road wear, that's why they are being charged the higher toll.

I wonder if SUVs and vans are being charged as cars or as trucks?

It seems right to me. Trucks tear up roads much more than cars do, so why not charge the price for wear and tear?

Yes because you are charging a different price for the same consumption of a good (in this case it is consuming bridge road ). Another example of price discrimination is matinee prices at the movie theater. Instead of charging the normal price of the consumption of one movie, they charge at a discount price for those who watch a movie at matinee hours.

No because discrimination laws only protect people in the work place and no where else. People are only human and there's going to be discrimination everywhere. Next the children will be suing there parents for discrimination. See what happens if you start to make to many discriminating laws.

most state regs charge per axle...vans and suvs and cars all have the same axles...semis have more..plus some semis carry 2 beds...and they also pay more highway taxes than normal vehicles...the taxes they pay and rules and regs are open to the public if you wish to investigate...a lot of semis even have a phone number or web site on their vehicle so you can check them out...
