Neither, I'm in college, so it's in a box, almost like a post office box right near the door of my dorm building. When I lived in Illinois, the mailbox was connected to the house.

By the road--we have a long block so we have a key and walk to to this mail thing where tons are together and we have a certain number.

inside my apt building and the mailman makes sure it's all smashed and crushed into the box and sometimes gives my mail to my neighbors.
