The one band that you love madly but very few people know of so you've made it your mission to expose everyone who might be interested in that band?

I think I've done a pretty darn good job with Porcupine Tree but me and rukrym now have to work on Rufus Wainwright :0)

You?

Muse06: The Shins was my band of choice a few years ago, lets just say I've cramed them down the throats of all the indie kids in my school.

Yes, we've got our work cut out for us :)

I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm always shamelessly plugging my favourite Irish bands. This being such a small country, it's difficult for bands from here to get big overseas, and I think that the American music industry is more interested in exporting US talent abroad than importing foreign bands.

One such musician is Fionn Regan, who I'm very ambivalent about when it comes to recommending him to people. Part of me wants everyone to listen to him, and part of me wants to keep his music to myself :)

And then there's The Frames, The Immediate, Fight Like Apes, Bell X1, Josh Ritter (not Irish, although his career got off the ground here). I'm determined to get people listening to them.

First: I love Porcupine Tree! A friend turned me on to them! I have two that i talk about - one i am pretty sure not many people know, and the other i am not sure:
The Color Fred - Fred Macherino from Taking Back Sunday has gone solo. I liked TBS, but I think that The Color Fred is great!!!
Also, The Postal Service - has the singer from Death Cab For Cutie...very good also!

The band is "Over The Rhine" from Cincinnati Ohio.
They've been around since 1990, and have released 17 Cd's. Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist, the married couple at the heart of the band have recently been named to Paste magazine’s list of the "100 Best Living Songwriters"

The sound is kind of hard to pinpoint, but it expands beyond rock to encompass elements of country and jazz, with a rich sophistication to piano-led chamber ballads and jazz-inflected folk.

I think you did a great job with Porcupine Tree... I expect to see you mention PT whenever you ask or answer a question... hehe.

There's a few bands I tend to mention a lot. These bands have a large underground fan base, but I'm just trying to get their names out there a little more.

London After Midnight
Local H
Apoptygma Berzerk

I love promoting Australian Hardcore on this site and on the streets :)
Bands like Amity Affliction; Carpathian; 50 Lions; Parkway Drive; Mourning Tide; Eyesdownfire; Born a Giant etc.

I've still got a long way to go, lol.

I was starting to spread the word on Silversun Pickups, then selfishly i decided that I'd rather that they not become too popular. You did indeed do a good job on Porcupine Tree. I've started spreading the word about The Shins to my friends

Edit: Whats with the trolls? Hmmmm i might name my band that. "The Trolls". Does that sound good or am i just caught in the moment

Edit Edit: Ugh i just looked it up on Wikipedia and it seems Iggy Pop already has a group called The Trolls. Just when i had gotten my hopes up and all. Let down by my own avatar

Edit: Or possibly 'Kill The Trolls', something i find quite tempting at the moment

Another Edit: Actually I think I'll keep it as "The Trolls". Its not like i'd ever get as big as Iggy Pop anyway. Now all i need is an actual band

I don't think i've been doing my bit to support the bands i like.
I've got an iffy/varied music taste, and i'm not sure if people will appreciate me drilling on at them - i don't wanna seem like a bible basher [band basher..?], haha.

[I have to agree with How Soon is Now? i sense an album too -fingers crossed-.. i saw a recent video of them performing and Andrew has still got it - he sounded amazing]

edit; i posted, then left for school. Now i'm in the school library [it's break time.. well it's over in 5 mins] and i should be working on my coursework... but i'm not =/ hehe.

Oh, I love Porcupine Tree! I'm here to spread awareness about the nineties indie folk-rock band Neutral Milk Hotel.
