i married a year ago and now we're so excited to have a child. we're hoping for a girl and I'm thinking i like Honey as either a first or middle name. In Gone With the Wind, Ashley Wilkes' sister's name was Honey, so I didn't just pull it out of nowhere. I haven't told my huband yet because he doesn't want to think about baby names until we know the gender
so what do you think of "Honey"
better for a first or middle name?

I've also thought about "Dixie"
any thoughts on that?

I don't like it, but it's your baby, if you do go for it.

I know an 80 year old woman named Dixie....And I don;t think its a good baby name.

As for Honey...I know where you were going with it...I loved Gone with the Wind and that was my first thought when you said it, but I don't think it will be good for a girl. Do you really want every hormone filled kid in highschool calling your 14 year old girl Honey? Maybe as a middle name

Angelica Honey
Charlotte Honey
Delaina Honey
Dominique Honey
Jasmine Honey

If you really like Gone with the Wind how about Belle, Melanie, Careen, Ellen, Bonnie, India all those names are better.
Just a few suggestions.

Dixie and Honey would be cute until the child reaches about the age of 12.

Think of another cute name you like, that will suit her as a baby, and as an adult, then she can go by "honey" or "dixie" for as long as she likes.

If you're really stuck on the name, use Honey as a middle name=]

I think Honey is a great nickname, but sounds like a stripper name if you give it as a legal name. How about Deborah? It's a little old fashioned, but it means "honey bee". If you have to have the actual name Honey in there, it should definitely be a middle name.

I'm glad you're excited, but Honey is not a great name for a child. It's good for the only food that doesn't spoil! Dixie is worse than Honey, considering it has "*****, See?" in it.

How about Ashley instead? Or Preslie, Baisley, Aspen, or even Kitty or Bonni or Bunni!?

Wow your daughter has no chance in society with that name. Women in the 70's fought for the right not to be called "Honey", thanks for unraveling all their hard work. That is a horrible horrible name, think of her in the workplace, no one will take her seriously. And as far as the movie, I love it too but there are plenty of other names that would be more fitting. Remember, it was during the Civil War, not in the 2000's. Why not Dixie, Tara, Melanie, Scarlett, any of those choices would be much more appropriate. Please!

I really don't think Honey is good. Just because it sort of sounds sexual and when people see your husband or another man calling her Honey all the time they are gonna think something. I don't really like Dixie either.

I think that what ever you come up with it will be beautiful because YOU picked it out for YOUR baby. And by the way, I LOOOVE Dixie, and yes, I am a southern country girl, but I am NOT an unintelligent, unsophisticated, hick, like you people are stereotyping "southern" girls. I am a CVA and in my 4th year of collage. So, congratulations on the new baby!!!

I'm all for uncommon names but Honey sounds like a stripper. Dixie sounds like the small town country u know what. I'm not trying to be mean. You did ask for opinions.
