Get your VIN etched on all the windows so they aren't desirable for a chop shop.
Don't get one of those cheesy "Pitbull Car Alarms". Anyone who sees a sticker saying "PROTECTED BY ANGRYDOG™ SECURITY" or anything involving dogs will just laugh and smash your window. The alarm is $25 for a reason. Ditto for the fake blinking LED. Nobody is falling for it.
On aftermarket stereos, detiach the faceplate. Even if your car is unattended for 5 minutes, that's more than enough time for a smash-and-grab. One of my friends came home, locked the door and quickly ran inside to grab her cell phone. Came out not 45 seconds later. Window smashed, stereo gone.
Or just hire a Mexican immigrant with a shotgun to sit in your backseat for $5/day.

Nothing. There are only two things that are effective at stopping auto theft for the individual.
1. Own an ugly inexpensive run of the mill vehicle
2. .45 auto M1911. Shoot the thief in the act.
Alternative to #2 is 12 ga of your choosing preferably loaded with 00 buckshot.

Don't know what sort of car you have but to stop it from starting remove the fuse for the electronic fuel pump....it's simple to do and most car thieves will give up trying to continually start the car and leave it....it worked for me on my XR2...they broke the door and steering lock but had to leave my car

a long ime ago we attached a ford model t ignitin coil t one if you touched the car you got shocked youcouldentopen a door the shock was to bad
bad thing is it would work now but the thief will sue you

Remote detonated explosive device rigged to a cell phone. If your car is stolen, you just dial your death phone, and BOOM.
