This a question asked a thousand times a day. But does it ever occur to anyone how unimportant each individual is to the world, the world only works as a whole, as the whole 7 billion of us. We are all born equal, but do not live equal. Do any of you ever wonder why all of us cant be remembered in history and that it is not fair that lives are wasted everyday, some people have to go through difficulties and others are born into paradise. Why cant we all be actors? Why cant we all be presidents? why cant we all be rich? - In the end, does it all really matter, the world, why try to make a difference when there will always be greed, power, evil and corruption. In the end we all die and live all eternity in blackness, why worry about life??? Why???

Apparently you have missed the entire concept of philosophy, but that's just my opinion.
The meaning of life is not related to any of the things that you mention in your rather lengthy diatribe. What does being remembered have to do with the meaning of life? We are not all born equal. We ARE all actors in life.
The reason you try to make a difference in spite of all the things you listed is because those aren't the only things that exist in the world. Generosity counters greed, humility negates power, 'good' counters evil and so on...
You have chosen, as the world has programmed you, to see only the negatives in life. I believe that is precisely why you have the assertions that you do.
Until you take responsibility for your own life and take back control of your mind, you will always be in the dark.
[Edit] The reason that everyone is not president, and everyone isn't rich is because you reap the benefits of your efforts in life. To give someone a reward for not attempting to better themselves is wasteful, irresponsible and detracts from the substance of Humanity.

Everyone is born in a unique environment. Every individual gets his own food everyday and may/might not work and he will have some rest. That is ordinary work. That is why all can't be remembered in history..A person can be remembered only when he does some better work..(Ex: Check your national heroes)..or some kind of extra ordinary work.(why don't you try working as hard as Edison did 20 hrs a day and more than 1000 patents..). It does matter when you try to make a difference in this world..if you keep idle..it means you are waisting your time and helping a negative society. Yes..every one is going to die one day..and no need to worry..but simply keeping quite does not fill your stomach...have some passions ..and feel the happiness ..that is how to live a life. A small difference always counts even if you are not remembered by this world!

You do have some very good points and yes I have thought about it myself before. The questions you ask, are asked by a lot of people but there is no easy answer. You should be a philosopher lol. Sometimes life don't seem worth living thats for sure, you get up and it beats you down again and again. Some people are born into paradise and it even makes me jealous I'll admit, don't see right that they do nothing to deserve it! While millions of others struggle just to make the minimum payment on there stupid basic of bills to survive hoping terrorists don't find a way to destroy our economy.
My philosophy is that I simply exist! I have no meaning to this life, or at least I have not found it yet if I do. I say just be spontanious, set some goals, make some accomplishments, and just go with the flow one day at a time. Try to find some enjoyment before you die because even though the world is crappy place, it is also very beautiful and your time on it is limited!

we all have our own meanings in life. some people are famous because they are good at what they do. some people are famous because they have money.
most people don't want to be a actor or president, most just want to live their lives.
it began years ago when some people thought they were better then others for whatever reason and it's been carried up through generations. people have develped to be who they are. for some that's a famous movie star and for some that may just be a parent with a bug and a grill out back. people are born sick or the healthiest man alive because of what they all can endure. no one, however is "born into paradise". we all have our troubles and our downs and lows. we have high points and low points and what makes people they way they are is how they respond to it. i dont think anyone's life is eaiser then anyone elses, but they way we all react to those problems is what tells how easy or hard we make life for ourselves.
the fact of the matter though is that none of us really know. i guess we've got to be paitent and someday we minght figure out what it all means, but for now the best we can do is be who we are.
(hey, i tried. u posted a hard question!! =D)

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

your obviously very young and have a lot to learn about life and there is no shame in that ,in fact i would gladly trade places with you if i knew that i would have the same opertunities that i've had in my present life.
i'll do my best to put this in a nutshell for you .do these two things buy a copy of pink floyds "dark side of the moon", and listen carefully to the words, and read ayn rands "atlas shrugged"and pay attention to the words ,one is an acurate description of life and the other is a compass.
the fact is that life is a gift from god ,a gift of an unspecified amount of time here on earth .thats all you get ,and even at that you don't know how much you have.so the only important thing that you can do is to spend it wisely. you can make millions of dollars or you can ruin a million peoples lives one way or the other ,but what you can't do is make a single minute of additional time cause when its over thats it.
my contribution to the earth is how i have affected those that i come in contact with ,especially my twin boys .at 17 hardly a day goes by that i don't get positive feedback about them .i have made my share of mistakes but have always made it a point to aknowledge them as readily as i do my meager achievements.that is why i think that they respect me probably more than i deserve.at any rate this is the legacy that i'll leave behind when i go. and i can't think of anything more important than that .

All we really are to God is what a speck of powder is to us. But we're waaaaaay more important than a speck of powder. If there were no diffeculties there would be no such thing as "experience" which is the thing that lets us learn more to become smarter. We don't really need to be so complex. But we just do make life easier. But life to us is nothing so make it more complex as time goes by and suddenly we're creating a bunch of new difficulties. For example do we really need to be rich? It would be nice to get whatever you want but you can't take any of your stuff to Heaven. Life shouldn't be worried about but because of all this chaos and bussiness and indifference we can't think anymore and so we just think more and more wanting more and then suddenly comes the question "What is the meaning of life?"

Of course, you lack evidence regarding "eternity in blackness," whereas some have witnessed to Resurrection. So that portion of your rant is illogical, presumptive.
Also, Creator creates all spirit-sparks equal in opportunity; what choices each has made, over millions of years, has produced the difference one often finds in karmic circumstances, etc. Your notion of "all created equal" needs the above clarification.
Further, to know why some are ordained to more difficult circumstances is to know more than you presume. Try reading "Life before Life," Jim Tucker, M.D., "The Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce?", Free and Wilcock, http://www.divinecosmos.com "Reborn in the West: The Reincarnation Masters," Vicki MacKenzie, "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, "Men in White Apparel" and "Watch Your Dreams," Ann Ree Colton, "The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis; they are worthwhile and may answer your question with some further information and actual knowing of such further states of being.
Each person, making him/herself a committee of One, ought maximize their earning by learning, without losing their childlike soul and joy in the process. It is a balance, and difficult in a world in which many voices are manipulating and misleading. Such is the elective condition humans have sown and are continuing to sow.
There are perhaps no "easy" answers or simplistic social bromides, however, if you invest some of your time in reading several of the authors listed above, and are able to resonate with the Truth/develop soulfield awareness and purity, you will be making significant progress.
kind regards,
j.

We were created to have a relationship with our God. That is it--to know God and find our joy in Him! To know Jesus as Lord is to find the true meaning for your life.
