It depends on who you call "they". I really think I got screwed on medical. But it was a small screw'in because when they stuck that M-16 in my hand and told me to go forth and defend my country, I was told that if I stayed 20 yrs, my medical would be paid for until I died. Well, that's wasn't true. Although I don't pay nearly what civilians pay, I still pay. The first war I was in, the home coming was not too nice. I really think Jane Fonda and those like her should be shot as a traitor. Granada and Panama wasn't too bad. They had local welcome home ceremonies for us when we got back. Desert Storm was the best. Disney World, Sea World, and Six Flags gave us free admission. We got discounts on hotels and airline fares, etc. It was okay. My Military Retirement is what they promised. Although it took awhile to get my VA Disability (because they are so overwhelmed) I finally got it so it's all good. Then two years ago, they started this "Special Compensation for Combat Injuries" program. I applied for that and got it. The state of Missouri is giving a Medal for Vietnam Vets, my kids talked me into applying for that and I just got a letter in the mail saying that I should be receiving it soon.
I'm not one of these that thinks I should be getting something every time I turn around for serving this country. But I am grateful for what I get. Now, let's make sure we don't forget those who are serving us NOW!

I never got to the fighting aspect of my enlistment they kicked me out first. ( They didn't like my kind.)
That in mind I feel I was treated more than fairly after only 7 moths of service because I did receive money for schooling. (Which I also blew on drugs)

My husband did and No not at all. when his time was up they told him he owed them money because they over payed him. So they told him he could either pay back the $20K or he can resign another contract and they will forget the debt. We didn't pay so they took over $3k a month out of our pay checks untill it was payed back with interest on top of it an legal fees..
