First of all, have you listed your resume anywhere that this company in Canada can view? If not, then you have your answer. If so, then ask them for their number to contact them. Call the main number and ask for the Human Resources department and ask to speak with a Recruiting Manager. Reference the job number that is assocaited with the job that is being offered to you. The reference number will be important for them to track which job it is that they've offered you. Let them know you've been contacted by email with this job opportunity and just let them know you aren't sure if it is legit or not. If it is legit, the manager will improve the way they reach out to candidates. If it's not legit you can let them know that someone is spaming candidates and using their name. Good Luck!

If you didn't apply, and didn't have a face to face interview, but received an offer by email (probably with a salary far above what you would reasonably expect), it's a scam. The next step will be for them to notify you of some fees that you have to pay for paperwork, visas, immigration, or some other requirement. It's a pretty common scam these days, although this is the first one I've heard of claiming to be in Canada.

Ask for a written confirmation through the mail, but if you act too aloof, they may decide they don't want you.

Check the newspapers online for that city and see if they are advertising for the position.

Call another hotel in the city and see if you can find anyone that will give you any kind of reference for that hotel.

Good luck.

You should go to the nearest Canadian Embassy and clarify with them. They have a structured process on applicants to any job in Canada. In fact, they have a listing of jobs available in Canada. In this way, you will avoid being victimized by unscrupulous swindlers.

I live in Regina. There is no Hotel Plaza here.
