In botany, sessile means "without a stalk" - the flowers or leaves grow directly from the stem.
But in limnology, sessile vegetation are any organisms anchored to the environment.

Can't help with "echiderm", couldn't find that word in the dictionary or encyclopedia.

The closest would be the feather star, a type of Crinoidea. They usually anchor themselves but can move if they want.
