they had an air pump and an egr and a cat (came out that year)

as far as emissions laws as long a it passes the sniffer test your ok at least in utah anyway

I believe 1974 was the first year for catalytic converters, along with electronic (point-less) ignition and standard radial tires, part of a system to increase fuel economy and and decrease emmissions.

1974 was the first, and only year of the awful government mandated seatbelt-starter interlock. ALL of these have since been legally disabled.
