I visited my dr. and got started on BC and b/c I've never been intimate the dr. asked for me to come back in Jan for the pap smear and I'll be 21 in March and waiting on my fiance to get here from Greece. So my Mom told me it will hurt if I don't use some kind of artificial stimulation or my fiance one if he's here, not that my Mom is the type to encourage sex be4 marriage but she says if i don't do something the dr. will and have no mercy. What would ya'll do? I'd rather dig the ditch in my own way then let the dr. do it, if u get me. But to me doing a vibrator or my fiance isn't right either way. Please help Btw as if u couldn't tell i know some ppl wouldn't think this is a hard decision but i'm the type of girl that would rather wait on sex till I'm married so it's more sacred and meaning not to sound corny or anything. Tell me what u would do...

I don't know why your mom said that. I had my first pap smear a couple of months ago at the age of 19 and I am still a virgin. If the doctor knows what they are doing then there will be no discomfort at all. The only thing you need to remember is to relax. If you are tense then I heard it can be painful.

I have been getting pap smears for years and I'm still a virgin who's also waiting till after marriage. Getting a pap smear does not hurt as bad as your mother is making it out to be. When you go for it tell the doctor you are nervous about it and ask him or her to use the smallest size specilum. There will be just a little pain but will be from the doctor taking the sample for the pap smear and it will be very quick. Just relax and take some deep breaths and think about something nice and it will be all be over soon.

Don"t worry the doctor is not there to take your virginity he is only gong to take a smear to check you for cancer which is important.

More then likely he will talk with you first and the nurse will be in the room with you the whole time tell her your concerns so she can clue the doctor in before he gets there. Remember He is a doctor a professional and you are not the first virgin he has examined.

I say wait for you finance and the two of you are married and then you can explore each other and decide what you like and you don't like. You have made the correct decision in waiting to have a husband first good for you I am proud of you. Your husband will never have a reason to disrespect you he is a lucky man.

I would refuse the pap test and wait until after you start having sex, not because it will hurt (it shouldn't), but because it's useless before sexual activity. You don't need a pap test until three years after first vaginal sexual intercourse. Pap tests check for abnormal cervical cells that could possibly become cancerous. Cervical cancer is caused by HPV which is an STD. If you have never had any sexual contact with another person, there's no need for a pap test. Furthermore, it's safe to wait three years between initiation of sexual activity and the first test because it takes longer than that for abnormal cells to develop.

Pap tests and pelvic exams are not a requirement for birth control pills and do not have anything to do with whether it's safe to take birth control. If your doctor requires a pap test for birth control, get a new doctor! Neither the US Food and Drug Administration, the World Health Organization,Planned Parenthood Association, or the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists believe that a pelvic exam or pap smear should be required for hormonal birth control. According to WHO,a pelvic exam for contraceptives (including monthly injectables) is a Category C. That is "does not contribute substantially to the safe and effective use of the contraceptive method."

The doctor should not break the hymen and won't if you ask her/him not to. Better let your husband do it on your honeymoon, he will be gentle. If it's not to large the hymen can be left in tack and the pap can be done, the doctor just needs to know to look for it before the exam. Tell your doctor the details, you'll be fine. Thanks for waiting until marriage. If he did too you don't have to worry about STD's or ware a condom.
Merry Christmas!

Try a small amount of mineral oil and massage down there. Sounds crazy but some women do it during labor if they don't use anesthetic while giving birth it helps stretch things abit making it less likely to rip or tear. Other than that try to relax.

I would not worry. I would not do anything early. i would just focus on trying to relax when the time comes. It will be uncomfortable, but it is not that bad. the doctor will ask you if you are active and when you say no he will act accordingly and be aware of things. so, please, just relax and enjoy being a virgin. It will be ok. I am proud of you for believing that it is sacred.

paps have NOTHING to do with sex, your mother is a moron. A pap is to test for cancer, I have them done every 6 months, as for having sex first this is CRAZY! Wait if that are your wishes. It does not hurt to have a pap done, at the most it is uncomfortable... Just tell him this is your first time having one done, and he will explain it to you... no big deal..

I have to say that is the craziest thing I have ever heard. I had my first pap when I was a teenager and had no problem at all. Just go to your appt. Don't get all psyched about it.....relax. It'll be fine.
