caus it was going to be a long field goal like a 53 yarder, and the kicker had just missed a 32 yarder.

To far out to attempt a field goal and to close to punt. If they punted, chances are the ball would have gone into the endzone and the Eagles would have the ball on the 20. Why not go for it.

It's not that uncommon this type of decision.
It's too far and weather is too bad for a FG and it's too short to punt. They actually missed a shorter FG attempt.

Their kicking missed a short field goal earlier. They felt they could make it. Like they have all year.
