My opinion only...
These are "age appropriate" characters. A child of 3, 4 or 5 does not quite understand yet that if he jumps off of chair to fly that he will not actually fly (and will hurt himself). That is the nature of preschoolers. It is the parents' responsibility to choose age appropriate movies for their kids. That is why you are having this issue. My 9y/o boy loves Spiderman, yet knows that he will feel pain if jumping from a high place and trying to fly.
That said.. ALL kids, even teenagers, need constant reminding of what is right and safe.. they are kids and are not perfect. That's why we need to constantly teach/preach to them to counteract what they see beyond their homes.

I did hear a story about a boy in my country who wanted to fly and so he made a cape and then jumped off from a window. What you can do is tell your son that he is too young to fly and to give it a little time that way he will be able to understand that he isn't supposed to "fly".
good luck.

dont forget! superman is an alien, spiderman was bitten by a spider and the poison gives him his power, batman is the only real-human superhero, but he has cool gadgets that allow him to do all his stunts. you might need to have a sit down and explain what normal humans can do, and the super-men have powers because of some other reason. not because they were born with it.

If they were good for me, why not.
Kids who attempt to fly have deeper problems that have nothing to do with Superman. It's more like they can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy and how to keep them apart.

He needs to be taught the differance between real and "make believe" or "pretending". You have to do it, and remember to speak in terms he can identify with.
As a long-time comic reader, I beleive there are great benefits w/ these characters:
It gets the child reading.
It gives them a positive role model.
It gets them using their imagination.
All of those, and many more I haven;t mentioned will benefit the child in the long run. I wish you luck, this is going to be tough.

okay. personally i think superpowers arent so super. they are basically cheats to the videogame and spiderman is finally winning the game cuz of the cheats. look, i personally thinkthat you should have the kid watch batman and learn those techniques. those r real and dont involve flying. good luck!

He will understand eventually. I used to think I could be Marry Poppins. I would take my umbrella out into a storm and jump off a hill... of course, nothing more happened that a few cuts, bruises, and an inside-out umbrella.
It's video games we need to worry about.

They are good shows but they need to know it is not real. And all about stunt men who get hurt making these movies.
