It seems to me about ever ten years or so there's something about Cuba in the news, but it's mostly out of site out of mind. I've seen a few travel shows about Cuba, with it's old 1950s cars and crumbling buildings, it looks like it could use some money from tourism. Castro and his brother won't be around much longer, and when they go, it could very well be that Cuba changes to a more open government.

For some reason successive US administrations have regarded the presence of a communist dictatorship in the Caribbean as being offensive. They are fine with dictatorships - they have supported numerous right wing dictators so it is just Cuban dictatorships they object to.

It is inconceivable that Cuba could pose any threat, so the only explanation is irrational prejudice.

An interesting manifestation of this is that the only posts I have had deleted on Answers are posts critical of US policy toward Cuba. There is obviously a very strong anti-Cuban lobby operating here. Suppressing anything pro-Cuba is a much stronger imperative than free speech.

The US won Cuba from Spain in the Spanish American war, but gave it to the people to form its own government (one of the main reasons for the war was US support of the rebels against what the US saw as foreign tyranny on the island). The only part of the nation that the US kept was the military base at Guantanamo Bay, which has remained ever since.
Cuba is close to the US geographically, so the US wishes it could influence it, but it isn't worth a war over (the nation has few resources, rough terrain, and a hostile populace).

i think of that its great and donate as much as i will to the reason. I desire i could do greater. the story that usually gets me is that rape is time-honored for college females in Kenya. the thought individuals might think of that replaced into ok is so coronary heart breaking. i assume that's why i'm getting so afflicted through people insulting feminist (and confident at times i'm getting offended and communicate from the undesirable place) asserting that feminism isn't necessary and then asserting something that's likely one in all the justifications feminism exist. Feminist is important in spite of if it is to combat community or international human outstanding violations against women human beings. No feminist i comprehend might end a guy from struggling with for adult adult males's rights or call a adult adult males's Rights Activist a Nazi.
