Almost any western will do.

Take on "Gettysburg"; sure, it's rather long and talky, but it coveres all three (1863, the Civil War and the US)

Not your cup of tea? (Ragtime is another good choice, as it covers the idea of a social war)

I'd say True Women starring Angelina Jolie, Dana Delaney, and Annabeth Gish. It was a "mini series" that was put together on one DVD.. It dealt with the US from the time of the war with Mexico on up to the early beginnings of the Women's Sufferage movement.. (very early beginnings.. not long after the civil war)

A classic about World War 1 is entitled, "All Quiet on the Western Front". It was originally made in the late 1930's and re-made in the 1970's (I think).

Hope this helps.
