yes it is bad, if you have your car in drive and turn it off then put it in to park, yea it could soon do some thing ,when you turn your car off when it is in park the motor stops at a point were the timming of the motor is kinda hard to explane,,but if you turn your car off in drive ,it just stops were ever and it stops hard,it will and it can break the cam crank rods ot the timming belt or chain,,so if you can put in park to turn your car off or one day you going to be strainded...

Your friends need to go back to automotive school... There is nothing wrong with turning off the car then putting it in park. Although that is a dangerous habit.... If you turn the car off in any gear but park, you run the risk of forgetting to put the car in park and the car is then effect in neutral and can roll and create and accident or worse hurt someone....

It is bad because the car needs to be in park before you kill the engine, to make sure that the shifter is all the way in park gear! If it's not and you get out of the car and lock your doors, your car could roll away and it would be hard to get back inside the car to stop it before it hit someone or something! So always put it in park before you kill the engine! The law says that you must have control of your car at all times!

No, it actually makes no difference if you put it in park before or after turning off the ignition. Although I would say most people would put a car in park before killing the engine, but I guess your friend is just a little backwards. :-)

Not mechanically. It is a very bad, as in unsafe practice. People who do this will, if in a hurry, leave the vehcle running while they exit only to realize too late that it is still in gear, driving away toward the nearest obstacle.

Country295 do you understand half the crap that pours out of your mouth? You have absolutely no clue as to what you are talking about so I would suggest that you not answer anymore of these questions until you know what you are talking about. I now feel dumber for listening to your mind numbing mindless dribble.

You should stop your vehicle in "P" or "N", the only differance is when you select "P" (park) a small locking lever engauges teeth on a sproket to stop the car rolling away (thats why you can't push your vehicle in "P" but can in "N".

Technologies differ on cars of different years. Old cars, it doesn't hurt them. I wouldn't know about new cars. The mid tech. cars don't actually get hurt, but you cannot re-start your vehicle until it is in park. Some can be re-started in neutral while others cannot. Read your manual and get to know your car.
