A new study on Pubmed.org shows that synthetic vitamin C can actually cause the disease that it's meant to deter, which is Scurvy.

This is all cutting edge knowledge, meaning its new to science.

Your cells are meant to metabolize an "arm" of vitamin C who's center is copper and the brothers and sisters around it are bioflavinoids and phytochemicals, which is what you will see in an orange or broccoli. That's because the natural matrix has a synergistic affect.

Over the counter vitamin C are synthetics. They can actually cause nutritional deficiencies in their wake.

Keep in mind that this controlled study on vitamin C and causing Survey on synthetic vitamin C has left out important details, like... Did the subjects not eat any fresh plant foods while taking the supplement, because the body will borrow from your foods as you take synthetics to make sense out of them. Thus, you survive.

Also, it takes large amounts and I mean mega doses over time to cause the problem in that study, so don't fear that taking a bottle of vitamin C in one sitting will harm you, other than the runs.

Besides, over 90% of vitamin/minerals you by over the counter have binders, fillers and do not have in the tablet what they claim in the label.

There is no law to regulate them, so most likely, you are buying a supplement that has very little biologically active ingredients in them whatsoever... Unless you purchase a higher priced item that is voluntarily regulated.

So, the old addage, "You get what you pay for" rings true for dietary supplements. You can find organic vitamin C in a powder form and it actually looks like the color of dirt, but it is the real McCoy.

I am not 100% sure that you can OD in terms of kill you, but it can cause you stomach ulcers and digestive problems. The good news is that your body does not store vitamin C, so anywhere from 24-48 hours all of the vitamin will be out of your body and you should be feeling better, if you ever felt bad to begin with.

Yes. You can overdose on anything. Go to the store where you purchased the vitamin C. Ask for an MSDS sheet. That is a material safety data sheet. They are required by law to provide that upon request for any product in the store. You might need help understanding it.

It is not likely that you will overdose on vitamin C, but it is NOT impossible.

Vitamin C has a low level of toxicity but I would not take too much because there are some very unpleasant side effects such as diarrhea.

No, if you take too much, you will have diarrhea. I have taken as much as 25000mg in one day. Vitamin C is very good for you. If you have diarrhea then you back off the amount until you have a normal bowel movement.

Overdose of the vitamin can destroy B12, reduce the effectiveness of blood-thinners, lead to the loss of calcium, and cause diarrhea and nosebleed.
