Are you very particular about having it spelled and said right that you get offended or irritated when it is done otherwise?

a mistake from a stranger can be tolerated and corrected

if it comes from friends and teachers i consider it an insult. this reminds me of my teacher in high-school, telling my mother i can't spell my name, coz' she wrote it all wrong in my report card and my mother explainng that i have learned to spell my name even before i came to discover the alphabet.

I appreciate all my classmates debating how to spell my name. but my teacher? she can go to hell. (hehehe)

how is it pronounced? it doesn't matter as long as it starts with ROD.

It depends on the person. My name is hard to mispronounce but is often misspelled. I spell it Jody (which is a masculine spelling) even though I am a woman...thanks mom!

The only time it really irritates me is when someone misspells it when responding to an email where it is in my signature correctly. Otherwise, I'll usually correct someone in a light hearted kidding manner.

Honestly, it does bother me a little. I wouldn't say I get offended though, just mildly irritated.

My last name gets misspelled/mispronounced a lot. At this point I don't care too much, and I only correct sometimes. If I'm meeting someone I expect to have a lot of contact with, I'll tell them how to say it correctly. If it's a store clerk or a customer service call, I just let it go. It's not intentional, so it's not worth getting upset about. New friends and business people I'll be working with need to be corrected nicely because they may be embarrassed if they learn six months from now they've been saying it wrong all along!

My first name is always mispronounced but I don't care about that. However, my last name is spelled with two capital letters and when they don't capitalize the B in my name then I usually give them a piece of my mind. I usually say something like, "Do you spell McDonald's; the Burger Giant, with a small "D"??? Well, my name has two capital letters also!! Get it right!!!!

My boss always misspells my name. But I am not offended coz she spells it in a cute way..

Most people mispronounce it too..They pronounce my name with an "Sh" instead of "Ch". But it doesn't matter to me, it's just the same..
As long as they don't call me weird names I won't have any violent reaction.

It's my name. And I am very particular about how it's spelled and pronounced. I have a rather unique first name-second name-surname so I don't hesitate twice in correcting mistakes.

But I don't get offended. I live by it, happens everywhere... The easiest way as I have discovered is to keep my ID ready and present it to whomever I am talking and say it so he/she would know how to pronounce it...

i find this to be a problem with my married last name people always spell and pronounce it wrong. sometimes they tell me i spelled or say it wrong. i want to smack these people. my best friends name is ken and sometimes people say Kim or Kent. he speaks it very clearly and when they miss speak it it really really really make me mad. i think it is mostly because people are self centered and don't really care about you and are already onto thinking what they want to say and don't really listen. i try to make a real effort to ask the proper spelling and pronunciation when i am not sure. people with the name bob don't have creative spelling but Chris or Kris or Cris you never know.

My names sound Hispanic and may be difficult for a non-Filipino to handle correctly, thus I'm not particular about spelling and pronunciation. They are trying to do their best after all.

I'm not that particular when it comes to the spelling of my name.

haha...it's easy. M-a-r-c-e-l-i-n-o!

well, I just laugh when people misspell my name.

Some I remember were:
"Marcilino"
"Marcileno"
"Marcilenu"

haha...it doesn't offend nor irritated me =)

people often misspell my name as Myles and not Miles.. I react casually, or in a good way and smoothly... Oftentimes, they reason out why they like it that way, and they say it's sounds sexier and looks better that way... Unless they use i it in a public document or formal documents, it doesn't matter at all...
