the world series title and let everyone play for second place.I heard that from an anti yankee fan and I do find some logic to it.
I actually believe they are the epitome of american baseball and should be referred to as America's team. They are the best sport example of America's ideology of capitalism and that everyone can succeed in America.Remember the yankees were a terrible team when they started and didn't even have their own stadium. They are the best sports example of an American success story.

I believe the anti yankee fan was regarding their advantage on spending. That is why I found logic in it.Whether you like it or not they are ameica's team. When you talk baseball, Yankees are are always on the forefront of any topic. They are baseball.Around the world they are the icon that represents baseball.
Just like when talking martial arts, Bruce Lee is always brought up.

Even comments referring to the lack of the yankees reaching the series or winning since whenever is ludacris. They went 18 years between the 70s-90s to winning a series, but they still were the most winningest team in that era.
I'm not saying they are the best,I'm just saying they are what comes to mind when people talk baseball, they are baseballs enduring legacy.Yes the cubs, dodgers, red socks, have storied history but they don't get the exposure or have the profile that the yankees have.Whether you like it or not they earned it.They have had too many great ball players in their organization that don't deserve to be insulted just because they were a yankee.I'm saying whether you like them or not you should be proud of what they have accomplished and as champions they represent what is right about America to the whole world. That is their committment to strive for excellence.

congratulations to boston redsox, however it is a little early to consider them the next team of the millenium.I'm glad they reversed the curse and i thought it was poetic justice how they did it.Very good for baseball as a whole.

You can't give the Yankees the World Series or the title of America's team. Because that goes against the American underdog mentality. Every team has a chance to win it all. That has been proven the last seven years while the yankees have spent alot of money but failed to win one championship.

I became a yankees fan when I was seven years old, when my youth baseball team was called the yankees. I didn't know what the name meant. Being an innocent little fella, I glamoured over their teams of the 90s while I watched them on the t.v. I admired them, especially Tino Martinez. He played first base, as I did and when I practiced, I would pretend I was every starting player and try to hit like them. I knew all their positions, their line-up, and their names. From here, I developed my love for baseball.

no no no no no
the yankees arent even going to be a playoff team this year
yes theyve spent tons of money this offseason.... to bring back the exact same team that got humbled in the first round of the playoffs
so now all those guys are a year older, for the worse in the cases of posada and rivera and giambi and mussina
there staff ace got shelled in the playoffs and probably will again, and last years team (the same one as this years) only made the playoffs cause they got to play a good chunk of the second half against the royals and d-rays and o's and all the other hapless teams, they couldnt stand up to the red sox, angels or indians, didnt fare that well against the tigers or the jays, i think mlb would be better served to hand the title to the white sox even then to the yankees, you should expect a third, or maybe even fourth place finish for your yanks, hoping for success will be just setting yourself up for major dissapointment
as far as the yankees being the "epitome of american baseball", thats like calling the st louis blues the epitome of hockey, sure the yankees make the playoffs every year (just like the blues make the playoffs every year, then they get humiliated and decimated right out of the gate, year and year out, at least your yanks will buck one trend in '08, instead of getting eliminated from the playoffs in the first round they will more likely be eliminated by mid-september, if not earlier

The Yankees have not won the World Series since 2000 and have not been in a World Series since 2003. Their spending on aging stars has paid only partial dividends. While the Red Sox have a pretty big payroll, other teams that have won, like the Cardinals in 2006 and the Marlins, who beat the Yankees in 2003, do not have a payroll anywhere approaching that of the Yankees.

Why could the Yankees cross after Pujols once they have already got an overly well first baseman as it's? I doubt they're going to pay anybody $20 million simply to be a DH. Yes I could be amazed if the Yankees signed Pujols. I'm in poor health of listening to all this BS approximately shopping, it occurs in the course of exercises, it is known as Free Agency. I'm now not a Yankees fan however I'm worn out of dull questions.

I love it how Yankees fans can still be cocky it makes me laugh thanks alot it helped on a Monday after a long holiday weekend.

I love that they can't buy the series anymore, they had a great comeback this year, but finished 2nd in the AL East, and then lost to Cleveland in the ALDS 3 games to 1

With Torre gone, the Yanks will fall to internal squabbling of the team vs Arod, and be the basement team that they were the whole 1st half of the year this past year before Torre restored order.

no they should never give a team a championship for a couple of reasons
1) why would anyone else want 2 play?
2)the last time the yankees won was 2000 and since then 6 different teams have won it. just because they won the most championships ever doesnt make them the greatest ever (Murders Row was the greatest ever)
3)they are NOT america's team. go 2 boston and say that in public. seriously. i dare you.

Uh no, they are gonna suck this season. W/O Torre as manager I have my doubts that they will catch the Sox in this years AL LEAST. Go Sox, Yanks won't be close.
