Please humor us and explain how you're waay more white than Black.

Because as far as it matters socially (especially if you're an American), you are not White.

This is the U.S.

You will be seen as "black" by both the white and black community because of the history of slavery and Jim Crow.

Attitudes in American society can't be changed overnight.

I think not, remember that "race" is a construct developed in a doctoral thesis and historically the power group forces other groups to comply and the "other groups" in order to gain access to the power structure try to become like the power group.. I gather that you are human through and through.
Of interest, if you were 1/5 African descent and 4/5 white, in Texas, you were considered white. When integration of schools was forced in Texas, the Mexican was deemed " White" and therefore the Mexican and Africans were integrated, and the "white" students carved out their own school districts. This occurred in the 1970's in Houston, Texas and for the most part is still occurring as the neigborhood are still segregated. I was a student teacher in the Houston Independent School District at that time. Being Mexican, my wife and I were denied housing in a white neighborhood, we were refused to be served at a restaurant, and while traveling in Texas we had made reservations at a prominent motel chain, and when we got there they said to move on, indicating that we could stay in a Texas town where Mexicans could use the motel chain's services. I got to see white flight, communities abandoned because Mexican's moved in. A friend of mine fell down a flight of stairs, and I took him to the hospital, they looked at him briefly, but refused to treat him and refered him to another hospital that took us. I also saw the discrimination of African - Americans. I was walking down a sidewalk and an elderly African - American lady actually got off the side walk to let me pass and she apologized to me! Gross, shocking and a reality though. I saw Federal Marshalls stationed at the polling places to make sure that African-Americans got to vote. Finally, when I went to college, in my upper division classes, I was told that it was a shame that Mexicans were allowed to attend college. We were allowed to attend classes, but were not allowed to live in the dorms. Discrimination is live, but is more subtle. Ask your grandparents about their experiences and you will see history's dark moments. I guess it sounds like you felt for the whiter-is-better concept. I don't blame you, economic success is measured on now white you are and how male you are. In the Mexican culture, we do not now really think about people's race, only their ecomonic status. Though, the Spanish left a legacy of racial and orginal status, as follows:

On the social hierarchy:

Spanish born in Spain
Spanish born in the new world of Spanish parents
Mestizo (Indian and Spanish)
Indian
Indian and African descent (Mulatto)
Slave-usually African descent
Pagan

Though, the stigma of "whiter skin is better is still a subtle idea", but for the most part economic discrimination is not based on skin color in the Mexican culture.
BE WHO YOU ARE AND BE PROUD OF IT, DON'T LET SOCIETY SEGREGATE YOUR DESCENTANTS. IT IS A FALSE HOPE AND DEMEANING TO YOU AND YOUR ANCESTORS! I hope that I haven't bored you with a little history, but it makes my point that we still live in a racially conscious society. We'll die and it is up to you folks to change that! Lord know we tried!!

you can only identify yourself as what race you are. No one can tell you otherwise. If you are ashmed of anyone of your races then you need to get educated cause that's ignorance. You should not feel one is more superior then the other.

No real reason to be ashamed either way. There is no need for your 'friends' to refer to you as black, white, or green. You are your name, not 'that black chick'.

You got 23 chromosomes from your Mom and 23 chromosomes from your Dad.

Race is just a social construct. And there are no race specific genes.

You are human, that is your race and mine.
Why be ashamed of your heritage?

If you have a problem with it just tell them. They aren't going to stop if they don't know that you have a problem.
