For x^2 + 4x + anything, you complete the square by saying

"Hmm, that equals (x + 4/2)^2 +/- something."

In this case, it's (x+2)^2 - 2. And that equals 0 (which is what you need for x intercepts) when x+2 = plus or minus the square root of 2.

You can fill in the details from there.
