Do I need some sort of documentation of harassment? What if this person hasn't encroached on me physically but has been harassing me for months. Thank you in advance. Any advice on the matter would be great.

You just need to go to the courthouse and file the paperwork. You will have to provide the name of the person and whatever information about them you can. The form asks for the reasons why the protection order is requested. The more documentation and witnesses you can provide the better. You will need to file one for yourself and one for any other adults living with you that might be harassed by the person. Children should be covered by their parents until they are of age. If the person you are filing against is a minor, you will have to name their parent or guardian-ask the people in the office for details.

A judge will hear your case and decide if the protection order is needed and will usually issue it.

In case where you and the other person must share common areas (work, common hallways in your apartment complex, etc) then you must have the judge set down rules.

Document acts of harassment and file a probihition in court so that encroachment will not be committed against you.
