Has anyone used Hagen Cycle Biological Aquarium Supplement? If so, is it worth getting?

All the bacteria that you need to cycle an aquarium are floating around in the air you breathe right now. It takes time to cycle a tank, and the fastest way is with no fish. This is because you can let the ammonia numbers get higher, and therefore, feed the bacteria colony faster, than if you had fish in there. The same is true for the second colony of bacteria that must develop, the ones that live on the Nitrites excreted by the first colony. Things that you can do to hurry the process along, are run the temperature in the low eighties(F) and provide extra aeration(the bacteria use Oxygen to convert the toxins).
So add some simple ammonia to the tank, and test every couple of days until the ammonia drops to zero, then begin testing for Nitrites, and when they drop to zero you are good to go. Just go slowly to allow the colonies to adjust to the growing pet population. (Probably 2 or 3 fishes per week for a while, and DON'T over feed!)
The process may take 4 or 5 weeks,be patient.

"Cyle" products are supposed to add the beneficial bacteria a tank needs. However, bacteria needs to be refridgerated and used within a week or two of its harvest date in order to still be living.
So, if the bottle comes on the store shelf with other non-living room temperature products, then its no good. Its just a bunch of dead bacteria. No longer beneficial.

Great ways for companies to assure new fish hobbyists will continue spending on products.

Not that particular brand, but I used another brand (can't remember which) years ago. You know, I just kept looking in that bottle of what seemed like plain water and my empty tank and couldn't bring myself to put any fish in there. I ended up cycling the thing like normal. Call me paranoid, but I just couldn't make myself trust the stuff!

what variety of Cory's do you have as you're able to purely have pygmy Corie's in 10 gallons ,i might attempt and return the fish and picture of something else to inventory the tank with while cycled Cory's do no longer do very nicely with a cycling tank they are water parameter soft. you're doing the nicely suited ingredient with what your doing i might return the fish initiate including organic ammonia and allow the tank finished its cycle .
