Did you use the religious one yet? Marriage being a religious institution, and that virtually all mainstream religions speak out against homosexuality?
Edit: I love all these bigoted posts, both for and against it.

If you are fishing an Internet BB for research --- you are deeply in trouble.
Homosexual unions have not be recognized in any civilization since the dawn of man. While some cultures would tolerate private homosexual acts --- none condone them.
Humanity has not progressed any more in the last 50 years then it did in the last 5900 so --- stop beating a long dead horse.
Marriage between a male and female is a contract recognized by the state as a mean to perpetuate the continuation of the state. The state seek future warriors, merchants, and laborer to pay taxes and to defend the realm. Taxes laws and legal customs provide a quick code of inheritance and aids.
If two legal adults would like to shell out the money to have a encompassing contract that gives A a right the the assess and liabilities of B and vice versa --- go at it.
The goal of society is to handle 90% or better of the common cases --- since homosexuals consitute only about 10% of any society --- they are outside the mainstream and ought to be treated as polygandrous individuals.

Gay unions should be legal for the sake of contract, just as in any business merger.
But they do not model for children in the same way as in traditional families. They also can only adopt. So to equate it with a marriage is wrong. Marriages which have two parents of opposite genders for the proper development of children are clearly superior to some same-sex union.

There aren't any good ones. By keeping it from being legal we deny equal protection, which is guaranteed by the Equal Protections Clause of the US Constitution. Also, by instituting "civil unions" we return to a "separate but equal" doctrine, which was abandoned by the US Supreme Court in Plessy v. Ferguson.

marriage has always been thought of as a sanctified institution, and administered in holy sacraments, and when homos try to pretend their vile behavior is acceptable as a holy bond is nothing more than a mockery of the Christan faith, the Bible specifically states quote "man who lie with man or Woman who lie with woman or man who lie with beast shall be stoned" so how can anyone pretend this is okay in the sight of God?? it is nothing but a mockery of our god and our faith, and if our men had any balls we would take up arms and settle this problem in a hurry, but, as a lady said not long ago on Y& A the fighting spirit has been bred out of our men, I wonder what it would take to get them to make a stand for any thing?

Religion being separated from church and state
what if it is part of your religion to be gay and marry?
who marries people? religions,,,
its a freedom that america should support
if my freedom ends where yours begins then what i do with my life doesnt effect you
i cant believe these people that want to infringe their beliefs on others.... in AMERICA HOME OF THE FREE?
WHAT IS FREEDOM?
I am just shocked that people can be so judgmental and egotistical to think they can infringe their beliefs on others...
just for the record I am straight,,,, but will defend others rights to be and do as they wish

the term marriage should not be used...give them civil unions....why pervert an established institution?
Just to let them feel better...NOT....
Give them the rights as married couples have but as it is a different union give it a new name....Why change the dictionary?

Main reason is its against GOD'S laws.
That is why Sodom and Gomoreah was destroyed.
Doesn't anyone read the BIBLE anymore?
God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve

It would cause mayhem in the insurance industry, who, as we all know, don't have enough money.
