most likely along your window sill there is a little edge.you could use a paper clip, you can slide the paper clip in in between the metal rim of the window and thus the cold wont affect it.

Instead of taping them on the window pane (glass), you might want to try either using hooks or staple them (very carefully) along the window frame. If you are unable to do this, try Duct tape.

omg, i had that problem every year, now i don't even bother cause they will fall down if the window get steamed up to. i just but the light up things that u put in the window. they r really cheap and very cute. and that tape really messed up the frame of my windows 2, i mean really bad. i have newer windows but cheap.

There are some special hooks that come with special tape that is strong, but not enough to ruin the walls. Check wall mart

I have to second the suction cup clips. I have used them for years. They are easy, inexpensive and they last for a long time. I just picked up a box of 20 at Wal Mart (Canada) for $1.96.

There are little plastic clips that have a nail-in point like a thumbtack. Try those - they are made for Christmas lights.

If you go down a shop that sells decorations you can now buy packets of suction pads made for that purpose

we always used thumb tacks, like one would use on a bulletin board or if the wood is too dense small nails woul easily do the trick (thumb tacks leave less of a hole though)

buy the suction cups with the clips on them and hang the cord of the lights on the clips. thats what i use on my windows and it works perfectly.

buy hooks that have the sticky things on the back but don't tear off paint or anything they work awesome
