We are planning a trip in March to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I am from TX, so not used to driving on snow/ice. Is there usually snow or ice around mid March in Cleveland? Any tips or experiences are welcome. Thanks!

On average, Cleveland does get snow in March. It can also be in the 70's in March. Usually not too much snow but you should be prepared to drive on snow or ice. I'd say it's about 50/50.

Tips: Slow down and keep in the tracks of the car in front of you, especially if it is an Ohio plate. Stay off the freeways and take surface streets if you want to go real slow. Call a cab or take public transportation. The R&R HOF is accessible by the Cleveland RTA.

Enjoy your trip, you'll be fine!

Yes, I have spent many of spring break in Cleveland with the temps in the 30's and 20's with plenty of snow. Sometimes there is no snow, and the weather is just cold. Normally by that time, there is snow but it isn't that bad, like it will only be on the grass or something like that. My advice to you is to check the weather channel or one of our local t.v. stations for the weather that week. I hope the weather is clear, be prepared to be cold, because the Rock hall is right on the Lake. O-DOT does a pretty good job at keeping our roads clear of ice, so I wouldn't be that concerned especially if when driving in the city, those streets are normally kept pretty clear. Also double check all your driving directions because our city well really the whole Cuyahoga county is under construction.
*** Be very careful on Deadmans curve! people like to speed around that corner! I lost a friend there 4 years ago.

I don't know how usual it is to have snow in March, but I know it does happen. I spent April & May at classes in Cleveland Clinic some years ago. I thought it would be 2 weeks of winter & 6 weeks of spring. It was exactly the opposite & snowed in May.

Yes, there absolutely will be snow in March. You can bank on that. Drive very carefully....most Clevelanders are very well versed in driving on snow and ice. Don't make any sudden moves or sharp turns, etc. They actually do a very nice job salting the roads though.

Be particularly careful on bridges which DO ice over very easily.
Best of luck!
