Across the U.S., classical music seems to be a slowly growing as a method to combat crime in urban cities. Just recently I read a article about how the city of Hartford, CT wants to play music in Barnard Park in hopes of getting rid of the drug dealers and hookers who hang out there. What do you think of this idea?

It does work to drive off kids, but you run into other problems. People will bring their own radios and ipods to listen to instead of the classical music. Worse, the vandalism would increase as people cut the wires to the speakers or knock them down and destroy them.

Chances are it will not work very well.

I think they'll eventually shoot the speakers out. To have an effect, you have to start playing it while they are still in the womb.

The procedure you describe would just move them to someplace else.
