It took me 2 yr to feel happy about recovery. It's now 13 as you know. I would not trade my sobriety for anything in this life.
Some of the ppl who answered this q can have their puking, their nightmares, hangovers, always being broke, always craving desperately something that you have to keep chasing, terrified that you won't be able to obtain it.
I'll take the sunshine, friends, money in the bank, nice house, sleeping well, self-respect, mind that works, trips to Hawaii, clean cut life style, waking up in the morning feeling as good as one of those broads in the Lunesta ads.
I'm here to talk about sobriety anytime to anyone. The only time I sat around morosely drinking coffee was during the first 6 months because the depression takes a while to lift. If you work the prog it works and it works awesomely.

well, i think it's easy to get caught into an addiction. recovery means admitting you have a problem and want to stop. everyone isn't willing to do this. sometimes it's hard to imagine life without "it" (whatever that maybe). whatever addiction they might have it's giving them an high. it helps you cope with life's problems. you know you will get immediate satisfaction from it. recovery is a difficult path for any addiction. a lot of people relapse and fall back into old habits. i don't necessarily think that the idea of living clean and sober is scary. but, rather the idea of forever struggling fighting off your demons. your addiction will always be there in the back of your mind. yeah, it will become easier with time. but, most likely it's going to take a long time to get to that point. just a few thoughts that entered my mind.

Yes, maybe to some it is. I have been in recovery for quite a number of years. I love reality of being clean and sober. One day at a time. =)

they have to look at them selves to see who they really are. most times they don't like what they see. so it's easier to stay the same. instead of changing. they have to want it and be sincere about it. being clean and sober means a whole new way of life that seems foreign and scary. But it's so rewarding to think and see things clear

I don't know.... I have no addictions.... never have.
I can't get to that place where i'd need something to keep me going... but I have empathy for those who do.
A clean and sober world? I don't think that's possible....
My motto, everything in moderation....
< peace >

addiction is easier than recovery. So they are taking the easy route.
Apparently it is.

God grant me the serenity....
People who are clean and sober suck. Dull sad coffee drinkers who spend all their time at meetings they have no time to discuss sobriety on answers. I am currently on several different drugs none of which are prescribed to me. It's great and I am happy to talk about my addictions.

I was clean and sober for four and a half years............
I'd rather be dead than go through that again.
