I am completely lost, can someone please help me understand how to find the reciprocal. Use this for example:

(1/3)(9-4)
Keep in mind that it is one third (one over three) times (9-4), I am completely lost, thanks

9 - 4 = 5 of course

so 1/3 of 5 is the product of (1/3) (5)

but 1/3 of 5 = 5/3 and the reciprocal is 3/5.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the reciprocal of any number is one over that number so

the reciprocal of 2 is one half

the reciprocal of 5/20 is 20/5 etc.

(1/3)(9 - 4) = (1/3)(5) = 5/3

Now take the reciprocal.

1 / (5/3) = 3/5
