Definitely - in school the ruler "ruled" and at home Mom's hand "ruled" - spare the rod and spoil the child!

Actually, to tell you the truth, I gotta say this - I do believe, that my grandkids are much better behaved than I was. Yup.

Me as a kid respected the leather belt. My kids respected my hand. My grandkids have time outs in rooms with tvs and video games and movies and toys galore.

My kids were very well behaved. It was hard work (as you know if you have kids)-was a 24/7 job but worth it.

My fine children are raising equally find kids...respectful, polite.

My grandson is perfect, he is so well mannered its scary. But he isnt a little prig about it, he is always winking at me when being respectful and obedient to his too up tight parents - he is a perfect gem and all boy.

My kids were raised to have manners but I would let it slip occassionally depending on the circumstances, how tired they were, etc. But my daughter and her husband act as if they are running a boot camp.

Thank God the little guy has the humour and the confidence and the sense of self to survive it - he humours them and has been since he was about 3 yrs old

My grandchildren are lovely and I was a quiet well behaved child (until the hormones kicked in) Then I got really mouthy and my Mom wished the Mother's curse on me and it worked, tenfold.

I'll answer for my nephew and his daughter. He was the sweetest little boy and well behaved. His daughter is the same age as my son (4 y/o) and you wouldn't believe the difference. Poor nephew has to work overtime with her.

My children didn't have a choice in the matter, they HAD to behave. (I was a strict Momma, but we had fun too)

My grandchildren tend to get a bit 'mouthy' to their folks, who nip it in the bud, but my children wouldn't have even considered doing that....They're all great, no one too out of control, but prior to teen age years, my kids were angels....lol...or so they tell me.

I think so. When I was in grade school I got a paddle on my butt for throwing snowballs in the school yard once. Try and do that now and you have a law suit on your hands.
