I remember when I was in middle school, someone broke his arm during mandatory gym wrestling. Then, when I was in high school, we had to do wrestling AGAIN, and I got a bloody nose from someone elbowing me in the face.

Not to mention how gay it is. I mean the initial stance, as I remember, is being on top of another guy, with your hand on his stomach, inches away from the gentles.

Whats the point of lwrestling anyways? I mean, if I get in a fight, its not like im going to try and win the fight by using wrestling techniques. Punch, kick, its all in the mind.

I think that it should. There have been many injuries caused from the junior high school MANDATORY wrestling. My injuries alone include getting a black eye (elbow to face), getting a bloody lip (foot/knee to face), and I have had all of my ribs bruised, whatever that means. (large kid jumped on my ribs). I had to get my ribs X-rayed because I was having trouble breathing after the incident. Real fights have also arisen from the gym class wrestling.

Mandatory gym wrestling perhaps. Does seem a bit rough nowadays for kids to be forced to do, especially when even dodgeball is being taken out of schools. As for the homosexuality part of it, believe me, the whole "touching and rubbing other guys" aspect completely fades from your mind when you're trying to beat the heck out of and pin your opponent.

And as for the point, yeah, punches and kicks work, but it's like learning other fight styles. With wrestling, if the other guy attempts to take you down, learning amateur wrestling helps you pretty much take advantage on the ground or even take the other guy to the ground, where a simple hold would finish the fight instead of punches and kicks and hoping for a lucky shot. Besides, wrestling really helps you keep fit. I lost a bunch of pounds during my time in amateur wrestling.

Nah ~ i reckon the wrestling we had at gym was just basic self-defence & stuff. The high-risk or high-impact mat wrestling is what is taught at wrestling academy i guess.
