A microorganism (also spelled as microrganism) or microbe is an organism that is microscopic (too small to be seen by the human eye). The study of microorganisms is called microbiology. Microorganisms include bacteria, fungi, archaea or protists, but not viruses and prions, which are generally classified as non-living. Most microorganisms are single-celled, or unicellular, but some are microscopic, and some unicellular protists are visible to the average human.

A microorrganism is a very small (microscopic) organism, for example, a protist.

Plants are plants. Microorganisms are tiny living creatures.

WHERE DID YOU GET THE IDEA THAT MICROORGANISMS ARE DETERGENTS?!?!?

An organism is anything that's alive -- plant, animal, virus, bacteria, etc. A microorganism is an organism too small to see with the naked eye; you need a microscope to see it. Detergents are chemicals, not organisms.

Microorganisms--
Organisms that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

Micro meaning small and organism meaning anything that fits the 4 criteria for life:

1. All life forms must contain deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)
2. All life forms must have some way to extract energy and use it to sustain themselves (eat)
3. All life forms must reproduce (sexually, asexually, reproducing cells...any form of reproducing)
4. All life forms can sense changes in their surroundings and can respond to those changes.

Hope that helps!

Microorganisms that can withstand high pressure, heat, and acidity are used in mining operations for copper, gold, zinc, uranium, and other metals. The organisms survive by fermenting the metal sulfides, therefore purifying the metals for easy access when dissolved in kerosene, water, or another solvent.
