I think the song describes it best, sometimes a lady sings the blues because she feels a need to express herself and crying may not be enough...singing the blues lets others know, as the lyrics say:
"She tells her side, nothing to hide, now the world will know just what the blues is all about..."
I really like how simply and honestly she expressed her melancholy through her voice and songs.
