We should be happy - our brave, ethical, and wise business leaders no longer have to kowtow to the evil, liberal FDA. We have a our dream - free markets and no regulation!
Let's all enjoy some beef. I bet Upton Sinclair would be thrilled!

"Why is the food supply so tainted?" There have been voluntary food recalls in the past and probably will be in the future. The only way to stop it is to physically test every gram of food produced (not very feasible). BTW, they don't know yet what caused those two people to become ill (POSSIBLY E. coli though it could be something else). One thing we all know is that the US food supply is the safest in the world. Mistakes will happen, and since no one wants to irradiate their food products, there is no way to ensure that there will never be any bacteria in food. What purpose does it serve to provide a product that purposefully makes your customers ill? That's a money losing scenario. Think about how much this recall will cost this company. 96,000 lbs of meat.

part of the reason is we dont check it thoroughly often enough. We all have been full of toxins since the 40's and 50's when our own grandparents contaminated us with all the chemicals we use even still today. Now it's worse. We have become a chemical society and that's why i believe we have all these diseases and sicknesses. Ever wonder why girls and boys reach puberty sooner now than say 10 or 15 years ago? It's cuz of all the hormones and steroids put into our beef, chicken and milk to make them produce more volume, grow bigger and grow faster. Mainly it's about the greed of the all mighty dollar, plain and simple.

Maybe this has been going on forever and we are just better at detecting it? For example, they use to make entire toys, not just paint, out of lead. There was always tainted food. When was the last time you heard about someone dying from Botulism?

Maybe we are just getting better at finding tainted products. Granted, the environment certainly isn't getting any cleaner, but I suspect that our overall food quality has been pretty good. There is no doubt that it could be better, but it's not that bad.

we have been living in various bubbles for the past 100 years or so....a bubble of hyper prosperity, one of extraordinary health care, one of previously unimaginably cheap abundant energy and one of incredible technological advancement based on cheap energy, esp. oil.....and they may be slowly bursting as unsustainable paradigms. in the process, we are losing control of the massive systems we have constructed.

China owns our massive national debt, the result of Bush's tax breaks. We can't pi$$ them off for fear they'll call our note.
Mission Accomplished!
