I just recently got a Brook's KingSnake.

What should i do if my snake gets bitten by its prey when he is trying to constrict it?

Will my snake die?

Will it heal?

I have had many species of snakes and almost all of them would not eat frozen/thawed rodents. Out of the hundreds of feedings I've done, I've only had one rosy boa get bit. A little Bacitracin & it healed right up.

When feeding larger rats, I'll stun them. They'll twitch around enough to get a snake to strike, and it's not permanent. The rats will come out of it and be just fine after a few minutes so they can be removed if the snake doesn't eat right away.

Never leave a live rodent with a snake longer than 24 hours is the rule. I remove them after 4 hours. My Ball python is the only problem feeder I have, and that is only occasionally.

I usually recommend feeding frozen rodents to snakes for this reason. I myself rescued a carpet python that had been on the wrong end of a mouse attack. The owners put the mouse in the snake's cage and went on vacation. The mouse chewed on the snake's back, all the way to the bone. After sutures, and extensive veteranarian bills, the snake is still scarred, but much better. A fighting live rodent can really harm your snake. The wounds from the fight can permanantly damage, or kill your reptile.

Rodents can do a lot of damage--they can permanently damage eyes and cause major wounds and infections. The majority of snake experts recommend feeding frozen/thawed. This eliminates injury risk and decreases parasite infection.
